Hey all!
http://www.health-calc.com/diet/energy-expenditure-advanced
Found this clever thing online and ive seen several members swear by it but I'm concerned it's WAAAAAY out.
Can't paste a picture because I'm on my phone but with all my details entered and my lack of sleep (one every energetic 4 year old) it says I should eat 2900 to maintain and my BMR is 1900. That seems high but when I think about it 1700 at the moment is really though and I lost 3 1/2lb one week sticking to that so is there some truth in it?
No hating please just confirming

I came to this conclusion too haha! I put in 8hrs sleep though and it dropped to 2500 so it seems a little more realistic and puts me at roughly 1900-2000 calories to lose 1lb a week so its not all that bad.0 -
It seems about 25% higher than what my Fitbit reckons. Changing my height wildly has no effect on the calculation, which is worrying - suggests it makes no attempt to compensate for body composition.0

I know from personal experience mine is about 2100 if I'm not exercising. This thing gives me at least 2300 even if I don't put any movement in it. If I properly put it in it goes up and above 2500 which is what I'm eating to gain.0

I think it might be trying to do too much. I put want I typically do in for a day - 8 hours sleep, 1 hour moderate exercise, and the numbers seemed reasonable. The minute I started fine tuning the other dials based on my true numbers, the TDEE seemed inflated. BMR seemed right at about 1689.0

Thanks for the replies! I'll skip this one and keep searching0

I have run my numbers through a number of different apps and find IIFYM is the most accurate for me.
I have been maintaining for 6 years and am confident of the numbers I have extrapolated from my MFP data, and consequently been using, are correct. IIFYM is within 25 cals. Scooby's is about 200 cals up and the Health Calc's are so high they are laughable.
That being said I too know folk on here that swear by both of the calculators that are so off for me.
They are only guidelines, so chose the one that works best for your own situation.

No way. I lose about .5 pounds a week eating 2000 a day. This calculator says I should eat over 2500 a day.0
