Will Physical Therapy For the Knee Hurt Sometimes?

My knee was almost having no pain after 6 months resting, but wasn't flexible. Sometimes it seems it hurts the day after physical therapy weights but not a lot. Then I was sick and did not do anything at all and it made my knee hurt worse and more stiff to do nothing everyday. It was getting pain free, but now that I started up weights again after being sick, it seems the weights made it hurt again. Is this normal or should I rest it or do lighter weights?

Pt from a physical therapist? Oh yeah, sometimes it will hurt. I don't know what's wrong with your knee so I don't know if you should push through or not. After my knee surgery my quad had atrophied while I recovered and coming back all exercises hurt and I pushed through and am now feeling great. Or, you could have an issue you are just exacerbating. Have you seen a doctor or PT?0

Thanks so much I saw a Dr but my Mri was going to be 500 so I didn't do it but she thought my mcl and meniscus are torn and it was really bad pain and I healed up and did weights slowly sn got strong and no pain but being sick and not doing weights hurt a lot. I can now run without pain and it's flexible again but I did weights for for the first time this week and then it hurt after and just a little bit ever since. I think I overdid weights this time and now I'm afraid to run but want to.0

Physical therapy might be very uncomfortable and even painful. But if it causes pain after it is over, and not just muscle soreness, but pain in the joint, something does not sound right. What does the physical therapist and/or dr say? I hope you are not trying to do physical therapy exercises on your own?0

I wonder what is normal. I have no swelling and just a twinge of pain. It doesn't hurt to run but then some surrounding muscles get tight. I run and walk and trying to ease back into it.
It's just on and off I have problems and when I did weights it got strong and was fine then I was sick and did nothing 2 weeks and it bothered me the whole time I was inactive.
Since I did not have the mri I can't get a referral for pt. I have healed for 6 months and walked for rehab and light weights. When I began weights again it felt better and was fine but this week I must have over did the slight increase in weight and felt pain the day after lifting.
I think it's better to rest than to keep going, but not sure how much I should do if I feel only a twinge of pain and it isn't swollen.
My dr said to not do activities that hurt so I try to do nothing if whatever I do hurts and just stretch. I just remember my foot physical therapy hurt so bad but they kept me doing exercises. I was wondering if my knee is different.0 -
But yes true the joint feels twinges of pain or pulling within the joint like the muscles got tight and are pulling on the tendons again.0
