Hungry?

I see a lot of people on here saying, "I can't eat all my calories."
Am I the only person that gets hungry?!
I do fine with my calories set to 1lb a week. If it is 1.5 lbs a week (where I have it now), I really need to exercise to have enough calories for the day on most days. 2lbs a week... forget about it! I'm ready to chew my arm off by the end of the day!
I have a pretty good idea of where I could make changes, but for now this is working for me with the 1.5lb a week goal. I tend to eat a heavier dinner and use a lot of my calories all in one shot, but that hasn't changed because I am still getting the hang of cooking for myself and the DBF.
So anyone else hungry? Just want to make sure I am not the only one!

Haha, Dj, I could have written that myself!
I feel exactly the same way. Its like, how can you have trouble eating 1400 cals. :noway: I normally hit my calories exactly for the day, I never have trouble eating them all!
I also tend to save a lot of cals for dinner. When I eat dinner I want to EAT. So no, you are not alone. I am also hungry!0 -
You are not alone!
I am always hungry. I must keep myself busy to forget about eating non-stop!
I too have to exercise a lot each day just to keep my calories from sky-rocketing past my limit.0 -
I am with you, I exercise so I can eat more. :happy:0

:ohwell: I not sure if I get hungry or not. I am retraining myself to eat 5-7 times a day instead of 3 meals. I feel like I am eating all the time and never really ever get hungry although there are times I don't eat and still don't feel hungry. I am trying to stick to 1200-1400 cals a day. Tons of colorful fresh veggies and my 64+oz. of water each day. I am exercising 4-6 times a week and don't eat my exercise cals but know that I can when I need to. I have been at it only 2 weeks but so far so good.
Are you eating fresh veggies as much as possible? Have you tried a protein powder? Others with a lot more to add will chime in I'm sure. Good Luck- I hope you get it figured out:bigsmile:

I'm perpetually hungry... even after meals. It's been one of my major roadblocks. I'll eat and think... "I'm kind of full, but there's more food, so I should eat." And then I do. I'll eat until I'm bloaty and want to rip my jeans off... and only then do I not feel hungry.
I just started logging my calories today and I'm bummed because I'm nearly halfway through my caloric allotment for the day and it's only 2:00pm. I ate a small lunch at 1pm, but honestly, I'm still feeling really hungry. I have to stay away from the kitchen... ::sigh:: :ohwell:0 -
No, I have never been able to understand why people can't get their calories in. If I only eat my day's worth of calories (without exercise) I'm slightly to sometimes VERY hungry throughout the day. Even with exercise calories, I never have a problem eating them all. If I don't pay strict attention ... especially when I'm out all day without a way to log them before I eat them .... it's very easy to eat a lot more than I should.
So you are definitely not alone! :flowerforyou: :happy:0 -
I'm the same way, but as I'm eating more fruits and veggies it's getting alot easier.

Oh yeah, I'm with you! I'm back at it again, after a break of "maintaining" (and gaining a few over Christmas) and my first few days back logging I was STARVING!!! I still go to bed hungry most nights, which I am learing to embrace!
:flowerforyou:
For every time I went to bed feeling "full" I need to go to bed feeling "hungry"! Yikes.

I'm with you. but I mean honestly, we're all here because we're overweight... whether it's marginal or extreme... so clearly those of us that say they feel physically uncapable of consuming 1200+ calories each day are kidding themselves... You don't become overweight by eating LESS than that. Could be the foods are more filling or something I suppose, but I myself have never had anything close to a problem with eating enough calories. lol, more like overeating and then realizing crap.... I gotta go work out again, lol.:drinker:0

I totally agree with you here!
Glad to hear that other people out there are in the same boat!0 -
:noway: I'm not saying I never feel hungry. However since going from 3 meals to 5-7 and filling up on veggies and good food I manage not to get hungry. I am a stress eater and am overweight from not eating good food and being a fast food junkie. Craving are driving me wild right now but I am stronger and more deterimened to lose this weight. I am handling the cravings (for now) by chewing a really strong flavored sugar free gum and staying heavy on the water. I have been on the seefood diet -see food eat it-for so long that I am having to pull out as many strategies as possible for changing my habits.0

I am the same way, but my calories are set for 1200. I feel like it's not enough, but that's where it put me. I'm doing better now that I've found healthier things to snack on, which means a bigger portion for a less amount of calories.0

I personally think those strategies are key! 'Skinnydreams' from MFP (lost over 100 lbs) always said that chewing gum after dinner and brushing teeth after dinner were the keys to her success! Know your weak spot, and but strategies in place to deal with them (night time eating for me, FOR SURE!!!).

Ok Yes I am HUNGRY all the time I think eating lots of protien is the #1 thing that helps me. Also, my trainer said your hunger level is a good indication of your metabolism. So when you are hungry, you know it's working.0
-
 Brushing my teeth after I eat just means I have cleaner teeth for late night snacking!0
-
Hunger really has nothing to do with my eating. I eat because I LOVE food.
It's a constant battle for me to keep myself from eating something, even when I've just finished a big meal.
But yea - I sometimes am actually hungry, the rest of the time I just want to eat because it's fun.0 -
Many of my friends and myself have been yo yo dieters for years so what should be working clues such as hunger/ metabolism seems to have gone the way of healthy eating:explode: . Now we're trying to retrain our bodies into sending correct signals. It is so hard and beleive it or not I actually get sick of eating some days. I am working as hard as I can to retrain this old body into working at optimum capacity.0

I get on this site every time I feel weak, and just looking at recipe books till the urge to eat passes.

Oh God Yes. I'm hungry, and I know why. Since I just started this week I haven't had time to go shopping and all my calories have come from semi-crap food. I'm hoping that once I can plan out my meals that will change because I'm also getting a little cranky :grumble:
Oh and I've tried that 'brushing your teeth' trick before, it usually works for me but only with cravings not with ACTUAL hunger.0 -
I don't really get hungry but I'm always amazed at people who say they can't eat all their calories. I have to plan my day very carefully. I preplan all my meals and snacks or I would eat 3000 calories in a day.0
-
It just depends. I've had days where I know eating something will make me have to get on the bike. But in general, I keep it pretty even. I'm not hungry tho.0
