Not normally part of the grammar/spelling police but this one has been bothering me as I have seen it all over the boards the last two days. Proper usage of lose vs loose is in the title. Whew, I feel loads better! Thanks for allowing me to go ahead with my very long rant! ;)

    Oh you know what gets under my skin? When 'then' is used in place of 'than' and vice versa.

    funny you mention this because yesterday my cousin's idiot husband posted a music video you tube *he thinks he can rap* ...well anyways, his song was called "born to lose" but he spelled it loose, even on the beginning of the music video where he put the title up first he spelled it loose....i didnt say anything, i enjoy letting him look like a doofus.

    I'm glad you posted this...everytime I come on the boards I see the "lose" vs. "loose" thing and I cringe. Especially when someone is talking about their loss and they mention "loose" many times in one paragraph. I'm not trying to be insensitive but I get frustrated reading the paragraph after that.

    Haha thanks everyone! Glad I'm not alone! There was a post yesturday where THEIR ;) was a paragraph about how the person wanted to "loose weight" and how long did it take you to "loose weight" and so on. THAN ;) I saw another post with the lose/loose mixup this morning and had to say something about it. haha

    I also saw a note on a box at work yesturday that said "This supplies is not ours, send back."
  • I know drives me crazy! I was at the grocery store the other day and someone had put up an advertisement for Herbal Life or somehting like that and it said "Do you want to LOOSE weight?" What a way to muster up business!!!:noway:

    "I can't seem to loose weight!" I know me neither. I just seem to be able to lose it, but never loose it.
  • One day on our work supply order I saw Vanilla Envelopes..... HAHA

    Another one for the list: its VS it's

    Its = posessive of it

    It's = contraction of it is

    Why do you really care, if you understand what they are saying or askign what do you really care if someone has spelt something wrong? I say get a life!!

    Quite often I cannot understand what someone is trying to say because their use of language is so bad. It really does matter.

    I agree with this. If you insist on hashing out your opinions, at least include some punctuation in your argument. I can see a few typos, but please learn to accept the fact that "wanted" is not spelled like "wonted".

    How is it the spelling police when the usage of the word is wrong? Lose and loose is not a spelling issue when the person uses it incorrectly ten times in one paragraph. I actually won't read through an entire post if I have to make guesses of what the person is asking or trying to say.

    This thread was posted in good fun and it was not intended to offend anyone. The differences between your post and my post are huge. It seems as though you are the one that cares and you are actually getting emotional about it. "I say get a life!!" Seriously?? Now that I know I am talking to a 5 year old it is much easier to understand why you can't type, spell or figure out the proper usage of a word.

    I agree. It annoys me when I see some of the grammar issues, but I get on with my life. I understand that not everyone knows how to use proper grammar. Stop insulting people just because it annoys you. It's petty.

    Whether this was posted for fun or to be offensive, I'm pretty sure a lot of the people reading this who use some of the listed misspelled words took offense as you making fun of them. You didn't have to be rude by insulting her and calling her a five year old.
