Hi guys

Hi everyone, my name is Bec and I live in the uk. I'm hoping to lose about 25 lbs, I've been in here for 3 weeks now and have lost 8 so far. Last year I was ill, with a tumor on my ovary and had 2 surgeries to remove it. The second one was 3 and a half months ago and I've got a 9 inch cut in my tummy. I had 5 months off work and gained about 14 lbs, I want to lose it all and some more and be fit and strong and toned. I'm going to the gym and have started swimming too but I'm worried about weights yet as I still get pain

Hi Bec. Welcome to MFP. I am sorry to hear about you medical complications but really glad you are doing better. I am sure you will be on your way to full recovery soon enough. Just take it slow. Remember losing weight is 80 / 20 - 80% food & nutrition and 20% exercise. Start with smaller weights and more reps but never over do it..just do what you can and I am sure over time you will be back to your old self.

8 pounds! What a great start. As txgurl3 advises a big part is healthy eating. Some people try to overdo the exercise part right away and burn themselves out. Build up and don't do anything that causes pain. You can add weight and reps as you go once you have a good foundation started.

I too have just undergone surgery on an ovarian tumor a week ago today and have put on some pounds due to time off work before my surgery exc, luckily I only have to have one op by the looks of it as it was benign and seems to have been successfully removed(fingers crossed). Be great to hear from you and to see how well you carry on doing, at the moment exercise for me feels like a million years away! You're doing great by the sounds of it! Hope you don't mind the add. I'm 20 from the UK x
