Fitbit Grossly Overstating Calories

Hoping someone on this forum can help or point me in the right direction. My FitBit Flex seems to be grossly overstating calories burned from exercise. I've checked and the Time Zones are set the same so I don't think that is it. Below is a snapshot from 7:30a. Most days it is giving me credit for 10k calories though I've only walked 3k steps and not really exercised. Anyone know what to do here?

Maybe you are just awesome. Don't discount that as a possibility.

:) you're right. Maybe it is just the scale that is broken. :)

But seriously. Anyone run across this and figured out how to fix?

Have you contacted Fitbit support about this? That does seem very odd.

Dude, either you personally knew Augustus Caesar and Jesus, or you may want to check your age setting in MFP.

I think once you sort that out, your Calorie adjustments might be more accurate.

Same type of problem with Garmin VivoSmart. What drives me crazy is when I walk farther in a day and my calories for exercise are subtracted from my total just like the calories I input for food.

. I also have the time zone issue when it comes to the calorie adjustment between the Garmin app and MFP. I have checked all the settings I can in my phone etc but I don't seem to be able to change it.

Maybe you're inserting the exercise in MFP on top of the Fitbit adjustment?
  • I don't know if this will help, but on MFP it says NOT to enter your values into fitbit, that MFP will sync with fitbit.

That's only so MFP gets the ad revenue. Fitbit gives a better estimate of calories for workouts

I'm pretty sure @CyberTone caught the reason for the discrepancy, though

Ok, fixed the age thing. Thanks for catching that. We'll see if that fixes the adjustment. Will report back on results tomorrow.
