I'm a 53 YO male, 5'10" and have lost 13 LBS since Jan 4th with just dieting. I've used a bunch of those calorie calculators to tell me how many calories I should be taking in. So when I started I weighed 241 and now I'm down to 228 in 17 days. My calorie intake max is 1690 per day. I've pretty much stayed away from fast food altogether and have eaten out only twice and I blew up the calories both times. (I felt like I betrayed myself). Anyway, any tips you might have for me would be greatly appreciated, especially in the "Staying motivated" department.
Blessings

Just don't give up. Realize that after some initial water weight loss you should only lose about 1-2 pounds a week. Don't be discouraged because it is slow going. Slow and steady is the healthy way to lose. My best advise is to log everything. I find that as long as I am logging I am more aware of how many calories I have used and how many I have left.

    hello.
It's best to try to avoid eating out, I try to eat out no more then once a month and when you eat out decide where you'er going and see if the restaurant has a menu online with nutrition and then go for something that looks good to you and that's lower on cal. I also try to make the rest of my meals low cal and do as much cardio as i can on days i eat out.

Also make sure you like the healthy/low cal foods your eating, if you don't like it you wont be able to stick with it and remember if there is something you don't like you usually can adjust the recipe. you can also adjust what you

For staying motivated, you can make a list of reasons you want to lose weight and take a look at it when you start to get down.

And like kgirlhart said, Just don't give up. losing weight takes a while, you lose pound by pound. Just keeping going at it no matter what, you fall off the wagon, you hop right back on.

Definitely head over to youtube and find some inspirational/motivational weight loss stories. They can be really helpful especially on days where you really want to cheat and it just doesn't seem worth it anymore.
