Hiya all. I am Dirk, from Birmingham UK, 48 years old and like a lot of us, overweight and looking to do something about it. Been using MFP for a year or so to log things but never publically.
Read some of the stories here and felt I should share to gain support to stick to things this time around.
Firstly, my weight was so bad or my weight loss attempts were so ineffective I was strongly advised to accept the offer of bariatric surgery. I also had a log list of health issues which my weight were making worse. Becoming a grandfather also led me to reassess life in general and my eating habits especially.
I have to admit I am unsure how heavy I was at my worst, but the highest I have a record of is 27stone, 12 lbs (390 pounds in all). I had my gastric bypass on 1st December 2015 (was down to 24stone and 6lbs - 342pounds) by then.
1st January 2016 and the re-start of the 'new me' continues my weight loss journey at 19stone and 4lbs (270pounds). Plenty of pounds to go though
I dug out some pictures of me close to my max, probably not quite and 1 from the summer.
I appear to be camera shy judging by the lack of photos I am in, hopefully I feel more comfortable in 6months time
