I've been dieting for three years and I'm now fatter than ever. Sick of counting syns and points obsessing over food finally came to the realisation that it's just healthy eating and exercise! Need to lose 5 stone by October any tips?
Going to cut back on carbs unless I've exercised and go cold turkey on sugar!

With all due respect, you seem to be trading some old restrictive diets for a brand new restrictive diet. Cutting carbs unless you exercise, cold turkey on sugar (does that include naturally occurring or just added), 70 pounds in just 9 months? That's a lot of very aggressive goals piling up there.

Can I suggest that you read through some of the stickied threads and adjust accordingly? http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300331/most-helpful-posts-getting-started-must-reads#latest

Thanks! Good read. Cut out sugar as in don't buy biscuits change to fruit and plain yoghurt! But your right on the restricting, everything in moderation! I guess it hasn't worked before what I've been doing so better off not having a time line

What works for me is being dedicated to log my food. I pre-log for the whole day and that helps me be disciplined. Nothing can be managed if it can't be measured, you have to weigh and measure and log accurately. Good luck.

One thing I did was get my pantry in order. Like you are planning for an all out assault. It's empowering to have a mental picture of what you are going to eat. I have a small bookshelf and each "square" is a category like Protein, pasta, snacks, veggies, fruits. I don't go anywhere else.
I have a journal and answered some serious questions like
-Why do you want to lose weight?
-Why have you been unable to maintain weight loss in the past?
    -Why are you overweight?

When I truly figured out what was eating me, I didn't want to eat as much. This is an ongoing process for me, but losing weight isn't just about the weight, its about emotions connected to how you got to where you are.

Its mess, emotional but also freeing, empowering and liberating! Good Luck!
