Hi Iv just joined this so any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated I had a car crash last February and haven't been able to walk since due to some rather bad infections I lost 3 stone in a month but slowly put the majority back on being bed bound im slowly starting to get the use of my legs back I use an excercise bike and am starting to take steps but for the amount of steps I take I think my suggested callorie intake is to much for what I do physically wise do you suggest I eat less than suggested or try it out see how it goes.
Many thanks

Gosh, sorry to hear that. it sounds awful. You sound like you are definitely sedentary. Without knowing more specifics about your stats, its hard to tell you what your calorie goals should be, but weight lose is all about eating less than you burn. So yes, maybe eat what MFP suggests for a few weeks, see how that goes, if you dont see results, lower it by a 100-200 a day. I am assuming you are working with a PT, so follow their advice for activity.
best of luck on your recovery.0 -
After your infections heal, could you get in a pool? That helps me with my limited weight bearing exercises as I have torn disc in my back.0

If you listed yourself as sedentary, the calorie allotment should be pretty accurate. Make sure you're eating enough so your body has nutrients need to heal itself.
Are you able to move the rest of your body pretty well? Are you using your arms to propel your wheelchair, or to steady yourself while walking? You might want to google "chair exercises" and "wheelchair exercises" to see what you can find that fits your capabilities.0 -
Thank you everyone for you helpful comments I go to hydro once a week and a physio every couple of weeks but other than that its just the excercises I do in the house such as the bike and trying to take steps i think I did put myself as sedentary so I'll keep to it see how I get on
Thanks again everyone0
