What are you using to track your steps? An activity tracker like a Fitbit? Your phone? Something else?

My phone but I don't know how to track with this using my phone0

I'm on an iPhone, so what I see may not be exactly the same as an Android phone.
But if you open the app, then tap on More, do you see an option in the list for Steps? If so, tap on it and you should be able to choose your phone there.

Unfortunately, the iPhone 5c doesn't have the motion coprocessor that is needed for step tracking. A 5s or newer is needed.
There are step-tracking apps you can use to get an idea of how many steps you take each day, or you could get a plain old pedometer or invest in a fitness tracker like a Fitbit, Jawbone, Misfit, etc.
