Whole foods is your best option and don't use spices.

But may I ask why you want low sodium?

If you stick to whole foods your salt intake should be pretty low. If you need a boost, dill pickles are great.

You can definitely use plenty of spices to cook with. I have High Blood Pressure and have been working to get it back to normal. I was put on medication back in October, and I have made some major changes since then. I'm following the guidelines that my doctor gave me. To gain weight you basically need a calorie surplus, but that can get tricky when trying to stay low in sodium. I'm sure you already do plenty of fruits and veggies, but are you adding enough good fats? Fat has 9 calories per gram, so if you are trying to gain weight fats are your friend. I would stick with nuts, olive oil, fatty fish. Just make sure to watch the sodium. For nuts I always get the heart healthy mix as they are unsalted and just have the naturally occurring salt added. Ms Dash for all my seasoning, and some other non-salt seasoning. I get frozen or fresh vegetables instead of canned, fresh, grilled or baked meats. You should also gets some good carbs going with some brown rice(no salt), and beans. Sometimes, I get the canned beans, but I make sure to get the no salt added or reduced sodium.
