Does going for a walk even do anything weight wise?

Walking is good for you! Walking a mile and running a mile will burn the same number of calories. But I know what you mean, it feels like it's not doing anything! Take a look at these:

Really, anything that raises your heart rate is going to help you lose weight.
I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one...walking is great don't get me wrong but walking a mile and running a mile does not burn the same number of calories. Get a HRM and you will see the difference is huge.
Yes but running takes a shorter amount of time. Your heart rate is still raised if you walk, not as high as a runner's, but it evens out as it's elevated for longer. Remember, runners get done quicker, so their heart rate may be elevated *higher*, but a walker's heart rate is elevated for *longer*.0 -
I have walked off 114 pounds! So absolutely it helps.0

i must run slow because when I walked uphill on my treadmill I burned the same amount in 45 minutes as I did running, maybe even 20 calories more0
