Hey everyone,
Quick question.. do you have days off from exercise or have a day with only light exercise or full workouts everyday??
For the past two weeks i have been working out for around 2 1/2 hours per day..(mostly cardio, abs and arms) but i found it harder this week to keep the energy up during my workouts.. what should i be doing??
Thanks xx

I aim to get to the gym at least 5 days a week. If I'm up for it, I can do 6 or even 7, but this week I got in five really good workouts, so I'm happy with that.
Sometimes taking a day off here and there is just the thing to get you recharged!0 -
I only do 6 days a week. Everyone's body needs at least one day to rest, otherwise you risk over training which can result in set backs or could mean injury.0

I try and do SOMETHING every day; therefore while I do have days off from the gym; I will keep active by taking a 20 / 30 min walk instead. That way I am still keeping active while giving my muscles a break from high intensity workouts.... Vx0

I have a hard time doing hardcore intense workouts 5-6 days a week. I usually try to do 2-3 harder workouts then a few lighter ones. I try to take off exercise on Sundays.
I've heard having an off day is just as important for your body as the actual working out... but I don't know if this is true or not.0 -
You really have to listen to your body. I workout pretty hard at the gym, and last week I was so tired I was crying in the store!!! So, I tend to take 2 days off from "organized" exercise. The weekend is when hubby, daughter and I can spend time together. I end up cleaning the house or running around on those days, so I'm not sitting on the couch. After the weekend, I feel so energized I'm ready to start the week all over again.
It's really up to you. Keep up the great work!0 -
My running schedule is 4X a week, plus one day of XT. However, on my days off, I try to do some sort of recreational activity, be it going for a walk, bike ride or kayaking...things of that sort.0

I currently do heavy cardio three days a week (conveniently delivered by a fast, hilly cycle commute or running at the intensity I do when I'm training for something), slightly lighter cardio on another two (usually running or more recently elliptical and rowing machines).
I've recently joined a gym, which gives me access to more strength training equipment, so I'm working in strength training three days a week, usually with a one-day gap between each session.
Saturday and Sunday, I don't work out, but instead fit in a few brisk walks, cycle to the shops and do any necessary DIY, carpentry or active stuff that needs doing around the house, which all keeps me mobile enough to ensure that I don't lock up.0 -
your body builds it's muscle in recovery mode, so yes you should alter your workout and take days off.
IE strength training every other
Cardio hard one day, light the next.
I usually do it this way...
Mon- Strength training light cardio
tues-hard cardio no strength
wed- Strength training-light cardio
Thurday- hard cardio
Friday-strenght training light cardio
Saturday- cardio medium
Sunday- Chillax0 -
