Quinoa. The directions stated to rinse. Do I have to? Any brands I do not have to rinse out there

I went ahead and rinsed as package instructions stated.
I do not have a fine mesh colander. I made a serious mess. I rinsed in a bowl, then tilted to get water out cupped my hand. Then did it again.
Then to drain used colander lined with paper towels. They folded over and I unfolded... the story goes on.
Horrible experience.

1. I think you have to rinse or you get a soapy taste.
2. Are there brands that are already rinsed? Please someone answer yes.
I don't really want to spend $10 on a mesh strainer. I'm cheap.

Cheesecloth inside the colander! Cheesecloth is UBER cheap, and you just rinse it out and hang it to dry for next time. :)

It tastes bitter without rinsing it. I might be wrong but I don't think it is a requirement to rinse but just a taste issue. There are companies that sell the quinoa already rinsed. One of them is called Roland.

I buy my Quinoa from Costco. The brand is Truroots. Never had to rinse before cooking.

If they are not "rinsed," they can have a bitter flavor from the outside coating but I am ok with that flavor either way.
Most brands say "Rinsed" on the label.

^^^Yep, same here. But you should get a colander from the dollar store anyway bc you might need to rinse rice in the future. :)

Bob's Red Mill brand is organic and has already been rinced before packaging. It's the brand I always use.

I see we decided to stick with that user name OP even after it was pointed out to you earlier this week how odd it is to assume an alias of a prominent public figure?

With regards to the quinoa, I'm guessing the brands that are prerinsed are pricier, so you can decide if you want to spend $10 or less on a fine mesh strainer that you'll have for years or spend a little extra on every box or bag of quinoa that you buy...

    Some quinoa comes pre rinsed.
But, yes, you do have to rinse it if it is not pre rinsed. It has a bitter coating, saponin, that needs to be rinsed off.
Fine mesh strainers are inexpensive, so it would be a wise investment unless you buy the pre rinsed.

I don't recall the brand I use. Although it says "pre-rinsed", I still give it a quick rinse in my strainer. I love my small mess strainer, it works well for many uses....not just quinoa. Crushed pineapple - beans - tuna - drippings from a pan, etc. Invest in one, you won't be sorry.
