Good weight loss per week?

I went from 270 to 229 now, and at first I was losing 2-3 pounds a week without exercise... Now I've been losing 1/2 to 1 pound a week even with exercising... I know normal is 1-2 pounds a week, but watching those weight loss shows I see that just having more weight to lose, they lose more than just 1-2 pounds a week... Am I at a good pace, as big as I still am? I don't have anyone else who is dieting to give me their opinion, thanks :-)

yes 1 lb per week is fine. Don't watch weight loss shows.
Have you re-figured your daily calorie goal now that you've lost 40+ lbs? If you haven't that could also be part of the issue.0 -
Well I was eating 1250 a day, and I realized it's not sustainable so I'm up to 1300-1350 a day.. Maybe it has made the weight loss slower, but I don't want to have nowhere to go when I lose more weight, if that makes sense! I'm not hungry at night like I was, and I'm mostly satisfied, I feel like my stomach has shrunk0

How accurate are you with those calorie counts? Do you weigh & measure all portion sizes of everything?0
-
Yes I'm extremely OCD and measure everything with my food scale lol0

Well...then just patience my friend.
As long as the scale is still trending down, all you need is time!0 -
Those weight loss shows set such unresonable expectations. They exercise up to 6 hours a day and they have them taking a slew of supplements. Stick to what you are doing, sounds like it's working!

Agreed! People usually lose faster in the beginning, and upping your calories probably slowed it down further, but 1 lb/week is a really good, sustainable loss rate. Way to go on losing 40 pounds!! Just stay the course and you'll be fine.0

Your body is getting used to exercising and eating what you are eating. I say push yourself a little harder everyday and try new foods and new ways to workout.0

Pay NO attention to weight lose shows. Their big losses are also monitored by on site specialists and doctors, 24/7. Enjoy your weight loss, whatever rate is your NORMAL. It takes time. The weight goes on easy, but comes off hard. There is no silver bullet here, just hard work and determination. You can do it !!0

Reality weight loss shows aren't reality...you should look into a lot of the very unhealthy things they put those contestants through...not to mention the "smoke and mirrors"...i.e., a week isn't really a week. Those shows are purely entertainment, not reality.
In reality, healthy weight loss is a pretty slow process. You lose more initially because you are shedding water, glycogen, and because you are eating less, you have less inherent waste in your system. After about the first 2-3 weeks, things should normalize and weight loss becomes the slow marathon that it is.0 -
Okay thanks everyone! I always watch those shows and think my gosh how do they do that! I'll keep slow and steady, and try switching my foods and exercises up0
