I have gained and lost and gained so much weight thru the years. Currently in the last 2 years I have been dealing with fibromyalgia, degenerative disk disease, bulging disk, arthritis, 3 different sleep disorders, and other medical issues. Too much activities makes me bed ridden and in so much pain I can't sleep. So I have to be very careful to get the right amount of exercise to loose weight and not so much to put me in bed.

What I want to know is what exercise do you do and how do you keep yourself from suffering fibro pain so bad you can't stand it?

You may find you have more luck by "losing weight in the kitchen." You can lose weight without exercising at all if you've got a calorie deficit. However, you'll want to do a little exercise to help keep your muscles fit. I've had fibro for years and very slowly lost weight. Nope, I am never going to be one of those "60 pounds in 4 months" kind of success stories. ;)

I don't do more than walking or yoga/pilates. Some days I only do my physiotherapy exercises. Once in a while when I am feeling good I do Zumba videos. The key is to move a little bit, every day, and not let yourself get stuck in bed. It's hard when you're in pain. Some days I just walk 5 minutes from home and then 5 minutes back. It's better than nothing. :)

Talk to your doctor and/or physiotherapist about safe exercises you can do for strengthening. I found that physio for my core has done wonders for my strength and to help ease the pain. When I was at my worst, my doctor had me taking daily anti-inflammatories. I don't need them any more, just once in a while. See whether your doc thinks it would help you in the short term. Good luck! Hang in there!

sugaraddict4.......as a bariatric person I am not allowed any anti-inflammatory of any type so I lost the ability to take my arthritis medications. I have the fibro under control for now but my arthritis is an issue. I have lost 80 lbs + at this time but I have hit a platue again and between a torn meniscus in my knee (which is better now) and a stress fracture and tendinitis in my foot I have been limited with exercise other than physical therapy. It's frustrating but I am making progress. My surgery Dr is not happy that I am not losing faster but with all the physical set backs I don't know what he expects.
