Feeling Tired

Hi All,

Looking for advice. I am working towards weight loss and fitness improvement.

I was 14st 7lb and now weigh 12st 9lb (Sep - January). I eat around 2000 calories a day and work out most days say 6 out of 7.

Normally do 20 mins running and 20 mins rowing or 40 mins of some sort of cardio. In between that I do 30 mins of upper body weights as well. The weights are lots of reps normally 15 reps 5 times and I do this twice over the course of my work out. I have gradually increased the amount of weight I am using. For example I started abdominal crunches at 50lb and now am up to 80lb. I don't try and lft really heavy stuff just a weight that pushes me by the end of the rep run.

Thing is this last week or so I have been feeling lethargic, tired and lacking energy. I have dropped the odd day and decreased the workout to see it it helps but nothing.

Do I need to add more to my diet, drop some workouts, change my workouts. I am still losing weight at a nice steady pace.

Advice would be appreciated.

I'm no expert and others probably can give better advice but I also find myself doing a 6-7 day routine most weeks. Eventually my body just feels down like you have described and I force myself to take a 2-3 day hiatus from my normal routine. I'll do stretching, yoga (even though I loathe it), and just some light cardio. And it makes a world of difference. I actually see my biggest PR gains after these breaks.
Doing an hour a day like that over the course of months just wears you down. Sometimes the body just needs longer then 1 day to recover. Try taking like a week and just work on stretching. I know it sucks because if you're like me working out is as much a part of my day as a morning shower. Without it I feel off and lost :s

Rest and recovery is very important, you body needs for rest for muscle repair. Losing weight is done in the kitchen and exercise is for health.

Have you had any blood labs done lately? Before I say it is the workout (which doesn’t strike me as overly aggressive, unless you’re doing weights every day), I’d like to know if there is something else physiological or dietary. As for diet, you should be making sure you’re getting adequate macros to fuel your workouts and rebuild after your workouts.

Thanks all, I am doing weights everyday. I think I will take a few days off and just do stretching and light cardio no weights, also maybe eat a bit more protein.

I am having a night out with the wife on Saturday as well so taking it easy seems like a good idea.
