Hi there,
I don't do alot of Strength training so what kind of Strength Training can a person do at home with little or no equipment?
I try to go to the gym 2x a week but haven't been able lately, The only thing I have at home that I can use is 5 pound weights,
other then my Step Box,Gazelle Rider and Treadmill and lots of dvd's like Jillian Michaels.
Would like some tips on what I can do at home.

Push-Ups, sit ups, squats, lunges, tricep dips... I worked out for 6 months straight using strictly my body weight in college and I was lookin good! Do everything slowly and hold it (so do a squat and hold it at the bottom for 5 seconds). Also, pulse your movements... these will seriously kick your *kitten*!0

You can do a lot of exercises with the 5 pound weights but you will have to do a lot of repetitions to feel them. That is still a form of resistance training, but it builds more muscular endurance then muscular strength. Technically, strength takes heavy weights but muscular endurance is important too. I recommend a combination of training types, so one day you can do muscular endurance and cardio, the next day cardio and flexibility, the next day hit the gym where you can go heavy and focus on strength, etc.0

You can do a huge amount of stuff at home with little or no equipment. Body weight exercises allow you to work your body quite well. Good places to look are bodyweightculture.com, bodyweighcoach. com (pay site), and look for the book, You Are your Own Gym, by Mark Lauren. He has a website marklauren.com as well. I do a lot of bodyweight stuff right now, and it works great. There is a place for weights and I am not against them, but first try using your own body weight. Do a bit of googling and you will find a lot of information. There are also a lot of videos on Youtube.com of various exercises. Oh I almost forgot bodyrock.com another site with a lot of bodyweight stuff. I may have typed in the site addresses incorrectly since I was doing it from memory. I have stuff at my blog here about what I do as well. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/rileysowner0

I agree with this. Very cheap and easy to use.0 -
Pulse means to give a little tiny controlled bob at the bottom of your movement. So, you squat and then give a little bob which helps deepen the workout to those muscles.0

Pulse means that you do little mini reps at the bottom of a movement like you squat down and then only come back up an inch and go back down. Do it 8-10 times for every full one you do and you will feel the muscles! Triceps Dips are where you are beside a bench or chair with your back to it and you put your hands on the chair or bench and push up with them. Then lower down to where your butt is below the chair level so your arms are bent at about 90 degrees and push back up. It works the back of the arms, but a lot of people when they first get started with weights can't lift their body weight this way.
I was going to go and find a couple of workout cards for you that are specific for home based workouts, but realized that there would just be too many of the ones I have done to put on here. So, here is my facebook fan page for my personal training stuff. I have a bunch of workout cards in the photos section and some exercise videos in the videos section. The videos are broken down to be under 20 minutes, though because of how FB does videos, but put several of them together for longer workouts.

If you want to start strength training, how about buying some resistance bands? They are cheaper than weights, come in different strengths and are very adjustable. Also, check out the Women's Health Big Book of Exercises, it's only around $10 on Amazon and has lots of things to do in it. It does a good job at explaining many strength training moves and even has some complete workout programs included.0

Thanks for the info,
I also do Billy Blanks and am getting ready to buy is bands so maybe that will help as well.
I will check out your links and FB page, thanks for sharing the info. Maybe this is anothr reason why my weight loss is so slow
is because i am not doing much strength training? Is that possible?0
