Sugar Addict - Help Needed

Hi All,
I am easing myself into my diet by cutting out fizzy drinks first and foremost, but I crave sugar like Pooh Bear craves honey, (I've babies on the brain so couldn't think of a better reference).
But basically I'm constantly on the lookout for anything sweet.
Not consciously... not really.. but my super senses can find anything sugar related and I'll think about it til I have to have a *taste*..
So I guess I need help with control... and so far the diary has been great but I need to curb my cravings. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions that have worked for them??
Thanks in advance.

I have had this problem, and I just recently come up with a little snack that helps! I went to a health food store and made some peanut butter in the bulk aisle with plain, unsalted peanuts. I take 2 tbsp of that peanut butter and mix in 1 tbsp of honey, and I eat the mixture on a banana. It is very good, and it's sweet, so it helps, and it's more nutritious than a candy bar. Maybe if you could make an allowance once a day, it will help keep your sweet tooth at bay0

I also crave sweets! I have trouble eating "just a little", I end up wayyy over-doing it. Unfortunately, in my experience, I have to "withdraw" from simple sugar sweets (baked goods, candy, cookies etc) for about 2 weeks. It is sooooo hard especially in the beginning, but the point to doing it is that my cravings subside then. It allows me to "get my head on straight" and to get a grip on just having a little bit now and then. I have not had much luck with substituting whole fruit or other healthier options for my sweet cravings. I believe in sugar addiction, as with any other addiction. Anyway, good luck with this, just wanted to share what works for me. :happy:0

Buy some sweet low fat snacks and enjoy. My sweet cravings are lessening but i still need something sweet after a meal, or with coffee or diet cola..0

Probably NOT what you want to hear... but I was HUGELY addicted to sweets a few weeks ago... I went cold turkey off of sweets, caffeine, cheese and white bread/rice/pasta. I had to, because I was so addicted to all of them. I had three days of pretty bad headaches, but I decided I wanted to change my life, and start my weight loss journey of well over 100 pounds. I now have NO cravings. NONE. I can hardly believe it. Pretty happy with my loss of 14 pounds so far too! good luck finding a solution that works for you!0

I am also a sweets addict...LOL! I found comfort in a few sugar free treats that make feel like I get to have those treats that I think I desurve! SUGAR FREE Jello and pudding with lite Cool Whip and
Blue Bunny (Walmart) SUGAR FREE dark chocolte rasberry icecream pocicles (they are hard dark chocolate with rasberry ice cream subsitute on the inside) 100 calories and delicious. These sugar free treats satisfy my sweet tooth and taste good!0 -
Hey girls..
Thanks so much for your input. I'll try and implement some of them..... Maybe even give up tea and coffee altogether as I can't stand sugar substitutes.
I really appreciate you sharing your experiences though.
Good luck with your cravings.0
