To those that have gone from OVER 200 to UNDER 200

Did you begin to visually see a difference more quickly / dramatically after you got under 200? Or was it a steady notable change?

I didn't even change a size until I got about 30 pounds down. I started at 216 and it was about 185 when I switched my 18s to 16s. Most people seem to not notice a change until I put on a new size, then I get all sorts of comments.

Hmmmm, great question. I think each milestone is equally as exciting. I notice new things all of the time. I never knew I had muscles on my chest connecting to my arms until the other day
I don't think it's as much about the AMOUNT of change as it is about WHAT changes you notice.

steady change for me. I started at 215 and it wasn't until 177 that I really felt like I looked different.0
-
I started at 214, and started noticing a difference in my clothes when I hit 200. It felt great!0
-
i went from 222-198 last year and I did see a change but not a dramatic one0
-
My change was noticeable to me when I was 210 and under. I'm just 196 now...I really can't see a huge difference from there to now but I am in a size 14...at 210 I was in a loose size 16. So something has changed.0

it took me to thirty lbs. till i saw a big difference in my clothing but i still feel so large. i guess we are our worst critic. this photo i use is actually when i was my heaviest.0

I've gone from 280 to just under 190 and I have to say that, as I get closer to my goal (180), each pound seems to make more of a difference in my appearance.0

I agree with Veronica, once I got to around 185, and went down to 16s, I started seeing more change and getting more comments from others. I went back up a few lbs, but I think the clothing change is what made the big difference for me. I did start seeing a difference in my arms and rib cage area after going below 200.0

I went from 211 to now 185, I didn't see a huuuge difference until I tried on old clothes, and until I looked at old pictures of me- I couldn't believe how big I was! I love not seeing that stupid 2 instead of the 1!
I plan to go down another 50 pounds or so.
I went from a 18 to a 14 and from an XXL to just wearing a L0 -
Steady. I thought it'd be more dramatic, but honestly... I think I look the same at 199 pounds, and I'm 163 right now!0

I went from 225 and I'm now about 192. The noticeable changes were in my clothes between 220 and 200. When I arrived in onderland is when I noticed the change in my face mostly. I think I don't see the change as much elsewhere because I'm losing a little bit EVERYWHERE! I mean my rings are getting loose, my braclets fall off, I'm having to tighten my sandles. LOL Hopefully when I say goodbye to the 90's I'll see it more. :happy:0

I'm still in the 200's and I notice a difference in my clothes especially. I have lost 13lbs and now weight 203. I was wearing a 16 and still am, but some of my 16's are to big and some fit that didn't fit before. I just guess it depends on the brand of clothes. I guess I have to wait and see how getting below 200 feels. I'm almost there. Hopefully by my next weigh in I will be in Onederland!!!0

Started at 235. Didn't see much difference til about 205. I weighed as low as 196 but was still hitting 201/202 last week but I'm at 190 today. I have to punch another new hole in my belt, now. Seems like pants sizes are shrinking every 10-20 lbs.
With 55 lbs. left to lose, I'm wearing 16s and in another 5 lbs. I will have to pick up some 14s.
I know every body is different but I hope that helps!0 -
I started at 280 and am approaching 210 and sometimes I still don't really see a difference. I can TELL there's a difference based on my clothing and what sizes I'm wearing, but visually i barely notice a difference (but I'm sure that's just my extremely skewed body image talking at least a little)0

I started at 284 and I'm 251 right now. I've gone from a size 24 to a size 18-18w. I think I still look the same but my pants don't lie. I'm also in a 1x or an XL now instead of a 2X. I'm 5 foot 9 and my goal is to get to 160.0

I'm at 208 right now and I can see a diff
Pants were LOOSE on me, and I don't mean "LOSE" hehe.
Although I am LOSING weight.

I've gone from 237 to 175 since sept 2010. At first it took a while to notice a difference...maybe 30 pounds. Now every 5 pounds or so I notice a big difference. It takes less time for my clothes to start fitting looser.0

I went from 235, and I am currently at 170 (ish) currently in a no scale phase for a few weeks.... Anyway, for me it was kinda on and off, it seemed like I didn't notice too much for the first 15 pounds or so, then from 215-200/195 I saw some changes... then seemed like i wasn't changing for a while, it wasn't until I got into the low 180's through 170's I feel like Im seeing changes quicker... I think it all depends on strength training and stuff too, because then you'll be gaining muscle which is just more compact than fat, and like I think because of that I feel like I am finally starting to get a shape
. Best wishes~

I started out at 206. After 15 lbs I started noticing and so did other people.0
-
I've dropped two pant sizes from 208 to 191. I notice a bit of a difference. Mostly that my stomach isn't so much like a beer gut or pregnant belly anymore. lol0
-
I still don't feel much different but then I'm only ten under 200. I've lost almost 25 pounds (24.6), dropped two sizes (from 16 to 12) and definitely notice that I have some muscles peeking through the soft stuff but I really still feel like I still look pretty close to what I did before. However, I have lots of comments from people when they see me and I can totally see the change when I look at before and after pictures of myself so it's mostly mental for me. My brain hasn't caught up yet but my plan is to keep moving and eventually I'll feel like I look.
The husband seems to have noticed though! He points out stuff that I don't notice. Love that man!

20lb down, now at 195 and all my 18's are big, like swimming in them big, had to belt and fold down a pair of capris yesterday.. but my 16's are still too snug to be comfortable in the hot weather. I've noticed changes in my waist, arms, ankles, face and most unfortunately, my bust... LOL! Another 10 and I think I'll be able to be comfortable in my 16's... I have tons of them waiting...0
-
I noticed with my belt on my jeans and then yesterday I tried on some old clothes and they fit, and my work trousers (which are going to be the infamous trouser shot once I've got down to goal) were loose, really loose!!!!!0
-
All I can say is I cant wait to see and feel a change. I've only lost 11 so far and am still in the 2's...I want to be in ONEderland so bad..lol..and change sizes..that'll be awesome.0

Same for me. My clothes finally went down a little bit, but not much! From friends I'm thinking because I started so heavy I won't see dramatic results until 210 or under.... Started at 272 down to 235...0 -
Started in the 220s. Join MFP around 217. Lost about 21 pounds after. Gained back some. Tottering at 200.00 on the nose.
Getting back to logging. Didn't see a size change until 15 pounds - 2x to 1x. At my lowest, I tried on some 18s and they didn't fit.
The most noticable place of the loss was in my face.
My guess based on my own experiance and the others who posted before me, is that people who don't know us well or care for us much, really don't notice until we get into non-plus sizes with all new clothing.
In the case of my in-laws, I would have to get to 90 pounds and then one of them might say "Did you cut your hair?"0 -
I see a change now @ 210 pounds - 37.5 pounds down0
