Falling below calorie target - not eating enough okay?

What is your opinion on eating when you're not hungry. Even if it means falling below the target caloric intake. It's showing on some days that I'm not eating enough. However I don't feel hungry. Also I would add that I am eating clean, healthy with plenty of fruits, veggies, starches, proteins and good fats. In other words, I am not depriving my body of the nutrition that it needs.

Any thoughts/input is much appreciated!

Your body needs nutrition, but it also needs energy (calories). Energy is what actually makes your body function...nutrients make you healthy.

I guess it depends on how under and how often. Frequently and substantially depriving the body of energy is just going to cause it to shut down "non essential" functions like growing hair, nails, menstrual cycles, etc. to be more efficient with the energy it is getting.

Again...it just depends on how under and how often. I don't log...there are days that I'm certainly under calories...and most certainly days that I'm over...the body doesn't work on a 24 hour clock...what happens to you is the cumulative effect of days, weeks and months.

Im noticing the same for me. Ive been eating healthy and really just keeping an eye on it. And now ive noticed that when im logging my foods for the day, ive not even hit 1000 calories. Im not sure when it changed or why. But im not hungry, im not shaky, and not tired. I dont feel like ive lost any energy nor do i feel depleted. Im just plain out not hungry. I do take fish oil, a complete multivitamin and immunity support daily. I dont know if im getting the extra i need from that but, i can say i am not going to force myself to eat if im not hungry. Thats how i got overweight in the first place. I sat at my desk between patients and ate because i got bored. Id eat even after a full meal. Id say if you're truly worried, ask the advice of your dr.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you undereat, your body will make you hungry (unless you have an eating disorder).
