Sodium so dumb

Why is my sodium so hard to maintain? I barely use all my calorie allowance and my sodium is through the roof.. Basic foods, nothing out of the ordinary...

If it comes in a box or a can it likely has too much sodium. Sodium is also the hardest for me to maintain, which is bad because I'm super sensitive to it.0

Unless you have high blood pressure, or are at risk for high blood pressure, then don't worry about sodium intake. You're fine0

What foods are you eating? I'm finding it fairly easy to stay below 2300 but I'm only eating 1600-1700 calories right now. It would probably be harder with more calories since it's not proportional to calories. I eat very few "processed" foods. Yesterday I had Five Guys but then my dinner was just a ton of raw veggies and shrimp cocktail.0

I may be at risk for high blood pressure..
However, I was more concerned with water retention.. Is sodium the water retention devil?0 -

Yeah, kind of. I'm the queen of sodium and water retention, but I'm tracking overall trends so it doesn't bother me so much. Some days if I weigh after a SUPER higher than normal sodium day I'll have a major spike on the scale, but I'll drink water and wait it out. It's back down in a day or two.0 -

Yep. Especially when you mix sodium with unusually high carbs. I had a McDonald's/cheez-it day last year and the water weight took 2 weeks to subside.0 -

And this is probably why I weigh almost 142lbs at the moment lol. Super high carb day, followed by a very salty day.0 -

I get 1900 at the moment.. But I haven't had any junk food or anything.. I realize what I've eaten has been high in sodium today.. But here lately I just can't catch a sodium break...

Yes, a high water intake can help flush sodium out of your body.0
