Calling All Brides!!!

Hello girls!!!

I just wanted to start a topic so we can all have some fun discussing our upcoming weddings!! The dresses, the locations, the future hubbs, the honeymoon :blushing: , and of course, how we want to feel about ourselves on the big day!!

As for me, I am getting married October 8th of this year to my high school sweetheart Jake. I started at 70lbs overweight, and now i'm down to being 59lbs over ... I'm looking to loose about 40 by the big day (though my coach says I should have no problem getting to 50!) ... hopefully there's not too much problems with dress alterations!! It's very fitted on top and has beading all over, and it has pickups all on the skirt. very classic, but i didn't feel heavy in it at my highest weight, so i'm very excited to see it on me with pounds lost!

So fellow brides, let's hear about your big day!!

Congrats!!! Our date is 4-14-12
Good luck losing the weight! I'm down about 30 and going for 25-30 more off by mine but I already have my dress. I was told I can exchange it for a smaller size though so I'm planning on going in in a month or 2 and doing that. I hope they stick to their word.....
    what are your colors/theme??

I guess I qualify for this now! I got engaged about 4 weeks ago to an old friend from Junior High School. We had a love/ hate relationship back then... but it's funny how a few years apart to mature can change things. We ran into each other again about 4 years ago and the rest is history! I love him so so much!

We have always wanted a fall wedding (Nice choice on the date!) and decided that this fall would be too much of a rush to plan. SO, our marriage date is October 13, 2012. It's the weekend after thanksgiving (Canada) and we are very excited about it. Things are slowly starting to come together with regards to planning. We have a church, a preist and a reception hall so far! Next stop, caterer and photographer!

I haven't even thought about going dress shopping. For one, we still have a long ways until wedding time (16 months) and two, I don't want to face the demons that are awaiting me in the change room... I want to drop as much weight as possible before even looking at gowns... I have until about February to shrink it down. That's when the dress should be ordered by.

Did the place where you bought your dress mention anything about losing weight when you have ordered a dress? Congrats on the upcoming wedding!!

    My Stats:
    5'9"
    Starting: 188 lbs
    Current (June 15): 179.5 lbs
    Goal: 135 lbs

    thanks! Congrats to you too!

I bought my dress the day i tried it on ... but i'm hoping they can alter it as much as I need. I've already lost 3" on my hips and 2" around my bust and 2" from my waist ... who knows how much more i'll have gone by the wedding day! My first fitting is 2 months before the wedding. I have potential to loose 15-20 between the fitting and the wedding! So i'm going to see what they tell me :)

Our colors are a calm, black with clover green accents (like my girls wear black t-length dresses with the green sash around the middle). the flowers are an arrangement of burnt orage roses with greenery and misc deep orange flowers, though my boquet will be mostly white calalillies with some accents of green and perhaps an orange ribbon.

I don't know that we have a theme persay, but those are the colors. the linens are black and have green cloth napkins. the hall we are having it in is brand new and we can't decorate, which is fine with me! one entire wall is windows, and it's in a big theater building and has a balcony with a bar and orderves and the reception and ceremony are down below, it's going to be beautiful :)

Congrats on your weight lose and good luck with the rest. Im only down 12 and my goal is 100lbs. For our vow renewal I want to be at least 30 lbs lighter.

Our renewal is 11/11/11. We are doing casino theme, so the colors are mostly black, red, blue and green. My dress is black and fits great right now but hoping on a smaller size by 11/11.

    Good luck ladies!

and dress shopping day 1 tomorrow!! Good luck!!

I'm an easy person to please, so i let my girls know 2 months ahead what day we are going wedding dress/ bridesmaid dress shopping. we met and went do davids bridal, i found my dress first after trying on 4 or 5, then picked out the girls dresses, they got fitted and tried dresses on, and they ordered their dresses, i bought mine and took it home that day! we were in and out in under 3 hours!!

I am getting married 3-20-12. That will be our 3-year anniversary since we started dating. It falls on a Tuesday, but we're fine with that because we've decided to have a "weddingmoon." Which basically means we're eloping. We haven't decided on a destination yet, but as of right now I have my heart set on Hawaii. I pretty sure I will be at my goal weight before next year, so I will need you guys to help me stay at goal weight, so I can fit into that dream dress I have yet to pick out.

Awww...I think that's great! He wants you to have that dream wedding we all want. I wouldn't mind having an all out wedding either, but I've been a part of wedding parties and I've seen all that has be done for one, and I was like no. lol Unless I win a dream wedding sweepstakes. I definitely wouldn't turn it down.

    Hey everyone!

I'm getting married 9-2-11 and so far have dropped 50 pounds for it. I start my dress fittings July 31st so I have until then to lose as much as I can. I met my soon to be husband on myspace of all places. He (I swear I'm not making this up) was looking for a random booty call and he saw my profile. I responded to his message only because I was super bored that day. He didn't get his booty call but we ended up talking for about 6 months before I finally agreed to go out on a date.

He is the most wonderful man I have ever met. We have been together for almost 3 years. He's my soul mate, best friend, biggest supporter etc. I can't wait to become his wife.

He are paying for the whole wedding ourselves so we are a bit strapped for cash. I, of course, have to have the wedding of my dreams so it's turning out more expensive then I had first thought. It should be awesome though. Our honeymoon is going to be a sort of local destination. We are going to Monterey, CA. We found a beautiful bed and breakfast on the beach and already have a bunch of fun ideas we want to do. I can't wait!

    Congrats to everyone!

Hello all! My day is 10-15-11, I bought my dress last year and it no longer fits well! ( I can wear it but there are bulges :blushing: ) Moving in with my Fiance ruined my diet! My goal weight is back to the size I was when I first bought the dress, so I'm hoping I make it! It was a little big when I bought it so a few lbs heavier won't hurt.

    I can't wait!!

    Hello gals,

My date is October 22, 20011 (only 4 months!) I am down 10lbs and I would be happy loosing 10-15 more! I am using the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred to help, then I plan on continuing with her ripped in 30 after that... we'll see! I'm a 4th grade teacher so lucky me- I have the summer off to devote myself to working out! Anyways, I highly recommend the program.
My "theme" is like a rustic ballerina in the woods dealio  It may sound weird but its supa pretty. We have a lot of real rustic nature elements like moss, rocks, and those big sticks you put in vases, these are balanced off by bits of very delicate simple girliness like the whispyness of the bridesmaids dresses and my adorable flower girls that will look just like mini ballerinas... and of COURSE the bridal dress. We are getting married under a giant oak tree and the reception will be inside a rustic room at a country club with vaulted ceilings and a stone fire place- so it's fitting to have this theme, I suppose. Good Luck to everyone! Feel free to add me :flowerforyou:

A wedding is such a motivator isn't it?! I have always wanted to lose weight but suddenly, when a proposal was imminent I was taking things much more seriously. I have 16 months until the wedding... but I am doubting my ability to lose it all... What I do know though, is I am loving this lifestyle change. It sure boosts your optimism.

    Congratulations ladies!

Hi brides-to-be! Lots of October weddings! Congratulations to everyone on their upcoming nuptuals and weight loss!

My sweetie and I are tying the knot on October 1st of this year, we got engaged on Easter weekend just a couple of months ago! It was such a surprise! I have been married and have 2 lovely girls (aged 11 and 6) and at my *ahem* age, had pretty much decided a wedding was not necesarry and would never do it again... low and behold 2 short years ago I met this wonderful man (never married and no kids) and I just cannot wait to be his wife.. my daughters love him to death and we are sooo lucky..

A small event at a lovely modern Italian resturant, no 'colours' but my daughters are wearing black and white dresses.. I got a georgeous short white cocktail dress by Suzi Chin from Nordstrom' s in the US ( I live near Toronto, ON ).. and have lost 24 lbs since we got engaged! Another 25 to go but I would be thrilled with 20.. :-)

Great job on your loss so far :) Yeah I mentioned it to them and though they sort of gave me a look that said, "you're fat and you'll be fat then too" they said yes. And a sister-in-law worked in bridal for a long time and said they should really be able to easily.
Congrats to the rest of you as well and good luck! I wish I would have waited longer to start shopping but I was so excited! haha And I LOVE my dress so hopefully it all works out. I don't really have a theme either but I keep doubting our choice of colors. As of now they are blue and yellow. But I can't decide on a blue or a yellow. I think I just feel nervous because I'm a terrible planner
