I am brand new to this as I used to track WW points.I went way over calories today. Advice on how to navigate the calories thing better?

Weighing your food helps because you are more precise in your calorie counts. Once you start weighing you start leaning what a true portion looks like. When I started weighing food I learned just how much more than a portion I was truly eating.0

Plan your day ahead of time. I plug everything in in the morning. If I know what I'm making the family for dinner I can adjust the rest of the day to get it right. I track my macros more carefully than calories, some days takes some fiddling.
A scale definitely helps! Also at the beginning its easier to find a few food you like and stick with them. You can prep for the week and no guessing when you plug in your food.0
