Hey I'm Steve, 55 years old, out of shape and am trying to learn my way around this site. Like anyone else who is here, I want learn how to get back into shape and learn the proper diet. I'm not really concerned with longevity, when my time is up, it's up, you know, it is what it is and will be what it will be. I am concerned with feeling good though and to make the best of my life feeling good.

Hi Steve
I agree when your time is up its up but while we are here we need to make the best of it.
Feeling good does make life easier.
I am of a similar age to you and having lost 13kg so far I definitely beginning to feel the benefits. Still a long way to go but will get there. I'm sure you have found the right place to start your journey and I wish you good luck.

Find an exercise program that you think you'll enjoy and start it. If you hate it, don't quit it until you find another one and start it. What matters is maintaining and gaining some muscle mass while you lose fat. Strength training will help with this. Cardio will help with heart and overall health. Do both.
Buy a food scale and weigh everything you eat and log it. Be honest with yourself. If you lie to yourself about how much you eat the laws of physics will still apply and you won't lose weight. Many people play this game with themselves then post on here about being frustrated and such and such didn't work. It's B.S. be honest with yourself, make the effort, and you will see results.
Most importantly, stick with it. What really matters is long-term adherence to your diet and exercise programs. There is no such thing as getting shredded in 30 days or any of the other B.S. out there. It takes real effort to lose weight and get in good shape.0
