hi guys, im looking for some support please. ive started back at the gym after a hard year finding out I am hypothyroid and have been on meds and managed to loose 2 stone! so i started back at the gym too and have just started getting into it, when today i passed out in the gym and had to go to the hospital in the ambulance. my blood pressure was fine, my ecg's were fine, my blood sugars were fine and my oxygen levels were at 100 which is the best they can be apparently. so ive had bloods taken and i am waiting now a week for results but ive been told not to exercise until i have seen the doctor next friday. it has really upset me as the weight i lost is gradually creeping back up due to my thyroid meds being lowered and i was hoping the training would get it back down again

Try going for long walks in the meantime and really monitoring your diet! That way you're not putting yourself at risk with strenuous activity but are still actively working towards health and weight loss. You can do this! Hope they figure out what's causing the fainting spells soon!0

My daughter had a slight fainting problem for years, told it was related to hormones. After passing out at the gym, went to a different doctor who took her symptoms seriously and sent her to a cardiologist. The Cardiologist is looking at us like our hometown Dr. must be crazy (she was 20 at the time), but he ordered testing and she was diagnosed with Neuro-Cardiogenic Syncope. Has something to do between the heart pumping fast and the brain over-reacting and sending message to stop! (Look up for more accurate terminology) She was put on Prozac which helped a little bit.. She took herself off. Make sure you get enough sodium. She eats vegan and has to supplement with Gatorade when she gets shaky. Walking may be better because it is usually up and down movements that cause the fainting. Also, found out that she had mitral valve prolapse which is nothing serious unless you get a serious infection.0

You might want to stick close to home or take a friend with you if you walk.
I had similar, unexplained passing out in my 20s. I suspect that the cause was neurological, but I never got a solid explanation.
I hope that you get an answer soon.0 -
thank you guys, i am actually on prozac and have been for years. maybe it could be related to my meds. i had another episode last night which was worrying, I wasn't even moving I was sat on the sofa playing on my tablet! it is bizzare, i'm just hoping my bloods will reveal some answers xx0

Have they thought of a 24hr blood pressure monitor incase it's periods of low blood pressure?0

I'm going to second a trip to cardiology. I had an asymptomatic myxoma that was discovered after I fainted out of nowhere - two days after my annual physical showed nothing.0
