Staff room snacks and eating my feelings

I'm a teacher at an elementary school. Sometimes I avoid the staff room because there is always unhealthy food sitting on the tables in there. When the kids are crazy and I've been running my face off, I just want cookies. Anybody relate?

I'm not a sweets fan, but....maybe you could ask everyone to keep the snacks covered or in containers. Taking a cookie off a plate is easier than having to open up a tupperware container. Just a thought.

I had that problem too. Bowls of chocolate (my weakness), chips, cookies, crackers, all brought in by my coworkers to share. If I wanted a cup of coffee, those goodies were always calling my name. When I started MFP and logging every day, I found that since I didn't want to log those treats, I stopped eating them. Just stopped. I also log my breakfast and lunch in the morning and decided to stick with what I already had logged. I do take a protein/fiber bar to work and keep it in my desk if I find the need for something sweet. But I include fruit in my lunches now and that seems to solve the sweet tooth. I no longer crave the snacks in the break room anymore.

Since I live alone, whenever there's a lot of that stuff at work, I don't buy it or have it at home. So I basically eat all the baked treats and other goodies I want at work. Other strategies include not eating any of it until after, say, 3 PM. If there's still some left and I want it, it's fair game. There's usually not :(

I can totally relate. I used to partake but NOT ANY MORE. Now I just don't partake.

I understand. I work in a hospital and there's a neverending supply of chocolates, cupcakes, and lollies in all the nurses stations. I've learnt from experience that I just can't start eating it or I won't stop. One lolly quickly becomes 5 lollies and 2 cupcakes. And I'd rather spend my calories elsewhere. I just try to block them out of my vision. It can get tricky because people are also quite pushy about you trying what they've baked or brought.
