Mornin',
Do any of you use pre-workout mixes before you hit the gym? I usually get burnt out sooner than I would like, and I feel like a pre-workout would do me some good. Any recommendations?

I use No Explode pre workout powder. They have yummy flavors and it really helps me out especially if I feel too tired to workout. It is expensive at GNC ($50) so I buy it online on amazon and spend about $18-$20. I like to add a green tea bag to certain flavors too, makes it taste amazing and seems to give me a little extra boost favorite flavors of mine are watermelon and blue raspberry0

The active ingredient in pre workout drinks is caffeine. I would look at your lifestyle and diet to decide why you think you need a boost. If you really want one coffee or caffeine pills are cheaper tha pre workouts.0

I sometimes drink green tea or betroot-lemon juice before workout. It gives me a boost. But if you always lose energy sooner than what you'd expect you might need to eat something before working out, or you're not getting enough energy from your usual diet.0

Coffee!0 -
Everyone has their own opinions you will get many different responses, I love my preworkout and without it I feel like I don't get the push out of my workout that I do with it0

Pre-workouts are not just caffeine but are based on beta-alanine, l-citrulline, l-arginine which can increase N.O. Some often have creatine in it which IF IT IS A MONOHYDRATE FORM can cause water retention....If you decide you want creatine look for one that is based on creatine Hydrochloride....no water retention. Also that tingling sensation is normal. Some people like it.0

Coffee!
I second this0 -
Just coffee for me.0

I take a shot of pomegranate concentrate (great NO) with some beta alanine powder. I only use 1.5g. I don't like to flush too much.0

Coffee 99% of the time.
Rivalus Power Burn 2.0 the rest of the time. Nice clean focused energy with no crash after.0 -
Creatine, Beta Alanine and L-Citrulline/Citrulline Malate are all great supps, but non are intended as a "pick-me-up" for the gym. In fact, many would argue that Creatine and Beta Alanine have a cumulative effect and timing doesn't really matter at all.
As others have said, caffeine functions as an effective pre-workout supplement. I also take Taurine to help with focus and endurance.0 -
Banana and some oats before a workout seems to keep me energized through my workouts and I take a bcaa in the middle of my lifting (it don't know how helpful it truly is but at the very least I think there is a placebo effect)0

I take Energize by BeachBody or SuperNova by Nutrabolics. I find pre-workout helps me a lot to keep my energy up. I don't like coffee so that's never been an option for me Everyone is different though.0

Some great pre workouts that I go back and forth with are Hyde, and Shatter. I used to use c4 but does nothing for me anymore.0

I drink Pepsi max(for the caffeine)0
