I love to drink smoothies before or after a workout. They're not super heavy, and they give me enough energy before/after my workout! I have two that I use most often, but I'd love to hear your favorite recipes!
Here are my favorites:
Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate:
2/3 banana
2 TBSP PB
Scant amount of either chocolate almond milk, or chocolate soy milk.(Eyeball it)
Ice (to your liking for texture, or can be made without!)
Blend in blender, magic bullet, whatever you have! :)
(This one is also really good with plain Quaker added!)

Greek Fruit and Yogurt:
2 oz blueberries
1 large strawberry
1 banana
2 TBSP plain Greek yogurt
Water
Ice
Blend in blender, magic bullet, whatever you have. :D

I like to freeze my fruit (give it a rough chop the night before) and then skip the ice. I also buy bags of frozen fruit. They don't spoil like fresh. My current face is frozen mandarin oranges.

Mine get loaded with flax/chia/hemp, some leafy greens, greek yogurt, frozen mango/berries/banana, and a mix of orange juice and almond milk.

My fav is vanilla protein powder, blueberries, raspberries, spinach, flaxseed and a bit of plain Greek yogurt.

Coffee, chocolate protein powder and PB2 is ok too.

I prefer the taste of berries.

My husband likes the dole frozen mixed fruit (mango, pineapple ??) cherries, spinach, flaxseed and honey.

Lately I've been making my smoothies into chia pudding instead. Eating it with a spoon takes longer so I think it's more filling. Usually it's this:
    Greek yogurt
    soy milk
    frozen banana
    frozen strawberries or trop. fruit
    Splenda
    frozen spinach & kale
    chia

    Two things:
-Always watch the calories. Bananas, strawberries, blueberries, etc can add up.
You could easily undo all your workout calories.
-Make sure after a workout you get at least 6-8 grams of protein.
Not sure if 2t of yogurt gives you this.

Depending on your workout and goals, you don't need to have 6-8 grams of protein after a workout. You can meet your protein needs throughout the day.

Have one for breakfast most days:

    Three ice cubes
    85g of kale
Frozen fruit--pineapple is my favorite, but also peaches, mangoes, different berries (all the berries!)
Greek yogurt (Dannon light and fit--80 calories)
    Scoop of vanilla protein powder
    Half a banana
    Blend!

The total number of calories depends on the type of frozen fruit, but it's never over 300. I used to have a whole banana and add in some nuts or goji berries, but I cut those out to decrease the calorie count. Really do miss the walnuts, though, they gave it a great slight nutty taste.

    That ginger-pineapple smoothie sounds amazing!

Oh, I know. :) I track all my calories. I eat lots of protein. I actually have a habit of going over protein goals. It's not like the only thing I eat all day are smoothies ha.

Berries are pretty low cal and high-antioxidant.

I don't really use them for post-workout recovery. If I wanted that, I'd just drink a protein shake. I use them as a yummy way to get another couple servings of fruit and veggies. Boosters like ginger and tumeric and protein powders are nutritional bonuses.
