So confused

I feel I like I have no idea what I'm suppose to be doing, no carbs, less carbs, low calories or more calories. 3 day diet, 1000 calories or 1200 calories. I feel like I've been doing a lot but I'm not losing weight.
Just did a bmi calculator and it said I'm obese class 1, I'm 59 inches and 166lbs right now, I know that's a lot but obese? and max I should be is 121, I was 130 before I had my son and after I had him everything just went downhill it seems.
I'm just losing my mind about my weight gain and I've had a lot of people tell me different things, like its perfectly fine to eat 1000 calories. I'm just now sure how much I should be eating and what? Is it really just calories I should be worrying about?
Also I'm a stay at home at home mom but we walk a lot. I don't go to a gym right now so does anyone know any good at home exercises? any pills/herbal things that actually work? I know there's no magic pill but maybe something that can help.
Sorry for all the rumbling, any tips would be great. Thanks

Don't eat under 1200 calories. Set your goal here to lose a pound a week and start there. It's about calories, yes, but nutrition does play a factor. Youtube has a number of workout videos to do. And no pills/herbal things work.

Yes, that is obese. Are you actually 4'11"?

Input your data and see what MFP recommends. Track everything and go from there.

1000-1200 calories is the minimum recommendation for women.

Eat salads for lunch. I did after baby and it helped. Choose dressing wisely.
Give this place more time. It will work. Consider getting a food scale at wallymart.
Careful if you are nursing, your baby needs nutrition.

At your height and weight there is no need to eat under 1200 calories.

You have 40-50 lbs to lose so a good goal to begin with would be 1lbs a week.
When you get down 25lbs to lose you may find you have to drop to .5 lbs a week.

Enter your stats into MFP and eat the calories recommended. The deficit is built into that number so be sure to enter any exercise, and eat back 50-75%, if you decide to do exercise in the future.

If a lot of walking is part of your daily activity, put your status as light activity not sedentary. If you find you are not losing at a pound a week then change to sedentary.

You can eat whatever and whenever you like, the diet that you can stick to is the diet you should do - I like just eating smaller portions of the food I love.

Do be sure to use a digital food scale. You can get them that do solids and liquids. (Costco under $20)
Precision in calorie intake is important to us petite people as we don't get a lot of calories to play with. (I'm 5'1.)

    Cheers, h.

Set calories 1200-1300, and keep carbs below 100 grams/day.

thanks for all the advise and info. I will see about getting a food scale tomorrow.
And yes, I measured myself today and I'm 4'11'" I actually thought I was an even 5ft lol.
I need to start eating salad regularly again, I usually use light dressing and a measure it into a little bowl and dip.
So 1200 should be good, that's what the site has me at. I walk a lot because I don't drive yet and I'm the one that run errands.
Thanks for the links I will read those.

The main thing is to stick to one method and be consistent. Use MFP, log everything, keep within your calories and give it time to work. You may need to figure out what meals work within the calories and keep you satisfied. It may take some trial and error to figure out an eating plan you can stick to.

Keep it simple, just keep doing it and you will see results.

put the right information in your profile,(your height and weight) put in the food you eat in the diary (every bite,/ measure all of it) see How much you are really eating and what nutrients you consume... THEN make changes. I actually feel like I eat more when I do MFP than when I don't because I choose good foods, like grilled chicken, eggs, vegetables and fruits.
    * I made the mistake of not eating enough when nursing and my milk suffered, YOU HAVE TO EAT! BUT EAT WELL AND WISELY. you can friend me and see my diary it is open.
