Getting "older"??? Come on ladies...

It's really surprising and disheartening to read so many younger women's profiles (and I mean mid to late 20's through mid 30's) and find out how many of them describe themselves as getting older, older, old... COME ON!!! How can this age group think this way??? It has to be the f***** up media messages that seem to be only getting worse than when I was a teenager. Do you really think you're getting old at the age of 30?? If so... you're in for a long haul LOL.

Living things age and then die... deal with it. Take whatever existential anxieties you're feeling at the OLD age of 30 and switch them around to the fact that you're wiser than you were when you were 20 (hopefully so, anyway), you're fitter (or getting there again), and you're much closer to accomplishing the goals you set out for yourself back then... again, goals definitely evolve and change over time (thank God!)

And as long as you can smile at life, laugh at yourself... and be truly thankful you wake up alive every morning, and have at least one friend in the world... age doesn't really matter!!

I am 48 and having the time of my life. My daughter is in college and on her way to making a life for herself. My husband and I come and go as we please. Life is good. I wouldn't want to go back to being in my twenties. Keep the faith, age is just a number..............

I jokingly complain about my age, but I am rockin' 39! :drinker: And the best is yet to come...
  • I don't think of myself as old. I am 29. sigh. 30 next year *L* I have more greys than the "average" person. My middle sister has almost a full head of greys. and she's only 33! Age is just a number. exhusband has a grandmother that is 93. Imagine living that long! sheesh. ha. I've still got a good 20-40 years in me easily. gotta double my age yet. and im definitely not old. haha.

    Hello,

I did put I'm getting "older" on my profile, but for me I didn't mean it as I feel "old". Actually I still feel like a teenager and sometimes that what's keeps me from "growing up". I'm 30 and still feel like I'm too young to have kids. I'm enjoying my youth. How can I feel old when people constantly tell me I look like I'm too young to be married?

What I meant is that as your body ages it's harder to keep weight off. It's well known that your body's metabolism slows down as you get "older". Not your mental age, but your physical age.

I do agree with you though. 20's and 30's is no where near old. I don't even think 40's and 50's are old. Far from it.

Well, to be fair we are all getting older. Oops, I just got older while I was typing that. But "older" is what you make of it. My youngest will turn 30 this fall. Most mornings when I get up I don't feel much different than I did 20 or 30 years ago. As for gray hair, none here. That is the easiest thing to change.

at 42 my body has a mind of its own. Healing takes longer and so does losing weight. But I will say my overall attitude is contrary to what it was in my 20's and my 30's. Having children has also given me a wider perspective on who I am and what I look like. The key word that keeps me motivated is "healthy". When I turn 50 I know I've reached middle-age b/c I plan on seeing 100.

I've always seen age as just a number. I'm 35, and this is the best time of my life in many ways. I am guilty of putting "To get to where I want to be when I'm still in my 30s." I don't know if that's the same as "getting older" exactly. I just meant that I want to live the rest of my days feeling better in all the ways possible.

    I'm almost 46 and feel 19 inside..

I may be overweight, but I'm happy and my skin looks fantastic! No sun, no booze.
