I lift at Crossfit and also once a weak with a trainer -- form is all important when you are over 60 like me so no injury to get in the way of my daily exercise program! I love lifting, I love how I feel, I love the metabolism jump afterwards, and I love the defined look of my muscles on top of weight loss.

Do you guys prefer free weights or machines?

I just started my weight loss journey on 1/20. Although I'm freakin obese, I made the decision to lift from the very start. I do compound circuits at home with db's 5 days per week and I love it! I've already stepped up the weights!

Y'all are welcome to add me.

I use machines and then Dumbbells too. I like the ease of a machine and have not reached the bad-assery yet for doing squats with a free bar! Lol

Yup, 3x/week (down from a 4x/week upper/lower split because I also added in a new class 4x/week and so had to cut back on some other exercises). It's great - helps me with physical strength and mental self-confidence. And being able to carry all the groceries inside, including the cat litter, in one trip ain't bad either.

I definitely prefer barbells and dumbbells over machines - more use of stabilizing muscles and just generally more interesting. I do dabble in a circuit training class that often uses machines, and they are fine, but I'd hate for them to be my only option.

    I definitely understand that lol
It's quite a challenge, but rewarding nonetheless

Mostly free but use the cable machine and leg press to round out my program

I only use free weights (barbells and dumbbells). I workout at home, so machines aren't an option for me. I also didn't really use them when I attended a gym because they aren't my cup of tea.
