Hello everyone,
I have been on and off MFP for a couple years now and have not been able to get any consistent weight loss. I think a big part of it is needing a community who is going through the same thing, so I am looking to meet some other MFPers who share any common goals.
I am 28 and 5'7" and 260 lbs. Looking to lose 90-100 lbs for an ideal goal weight of 160-165.
I am halfway through my first year of medical school and am getting married next summer. If anyone is also knee deep in school and has great ideas on balancing time, food prep, and studying, I would love to hear them.
Lastly, I am very interested in joining the Navy Reserves and really hope to connect with some people who may be here to lose weight in order to enlist.
Feel free to add me or send a message if you are going down any similar paths!

Hi! Congrats on the upcoming wedding! I am 35 and 5'6.5" and currently 245lbs. I graduated dental school about 5 1/2 years ago. I actually was offered a Naval dental scholarship. This is when I weighed 160lbs. And I JUST made the cutoff for weight and height to be accepted as an officer. I ended up not accepting the scholarship for unrelated reasons. This is over 10 years ago, so I'm not sure if it is the same criteria for Navy Reserves. Have you been through gross anatomy yet? The first two years of dental school basically mirror medical school. I'd be happy to offer some time management tips. I also married in dental school. I know it sounds corny, but keep your eye on the prize and you will get there.
Most people say start with small, tangible goals. I started on MFP and couple of days ago. However, I have had maybe 3 profiles over the past several years. I think the first half and hardest part of weight loss is being ready and open for change and then sticking to it. You can do it! You are becoming a physician, you are getting married, you want to help our fellow Americans. You are already amazing! Losing this weight is going to help you live your awesome life longer. What do you think your first goal will be?
Best,
