Hi All
Had a great nights sleep last night....11 hrs! I've been feeling sleep deprived for a long while...trying to fit everything into the day! Woke up this morning feeling absolutely amazing! Got on the scale, and it had moved in the right direction!!! First time in a long while as well.....can sleep or lack of it really affect weight loss/gain in this way?
Have any of you experienced this - I'd love to know your thoughts:happy:

I really believe it can!! All of your articles you read really support this fact as well. How can your body perform if its tired? It does make sense to think that if your body is too tired it would be more ap to hang on to those calories because of the state of distress! Glad you got more sleep. Maybe you can just tack on another hour or so daily....Your body will thank you!!0 -
Yes, sleep helps SO much. I work night shift and when I am up 24+ hours, I get crazy starved hungry too. Glad you finally got some sleep!!0

Yes, sleep deprivation and weight gain is closely connected. The system that controls your sleep is the same system that controls your appetite and metabolism. Sleep deprivation can make you feel more hungry and at the same time reduce your ability to burn fat - not a good combination.
I have narcolepsy which means that this system is permanently messed up, and even if I'm sleeping a lot, I'm in a constant state of sleep deprivation. It slows down my metabolism and makes it more difficult for me to lose weight. It can also give me huge food cravings. If I don't keep track of what I'm eating I will always gain weight.0 -
I also suffer from lack of sleep...oh yes I try all the natural ways I can but it still eludes me almost on a nightly basis and it definately effects my lack of weight loss and my workouts.0

Yes, sleep does play a part - which is why all the BodyMedia Fit, BodyBugg, FitBit devices monitor sleep as well as calorie burn0
