Hi every one :blushing: I am a bit confused. I am new and have been logging in my food intake but usually by the time I get to lunch, I have already used up most of my calories allowed for the day. So my question is how do you go about this? Does anyone have any ideas? I tried limiting my breakfast amount and substituting it for something else but no matter how I put it :explode: my breakfast count is high! So what can I do? My goal is to stay under 1200Calories.

Second question: If my intake is supposed to be 1200 but I eat 2000 does the exercise that I do count? I mean does it get subtracted from the 2000? Or how does that work? I will appreciate all the support I can get. Thank you:flowerforyou:

OK First off...don't eat under 1200 calories (see all the threads about starvation mode - 700 calories and not losing) Also, if you exercise then you get more calories to eat

Second try a couple of eggs and some toast, oatmeal, cereal (not the really sugar stuff) for breakfast.
Log in all the calories for the day BEFORE you eat anything. This will help you portion your stuff out more and give you a better feel for the day.

Did MFP put you at 1200 calories a day? That seems low based on the amount you want to lose...1200 is the bare minimum, so unless MFP put you there, it's best to start with a higher amount so you can change up the number of calories that you are consuming if you hit a plateau.

Second, yes, exercise that you do allows you to eat more. So if MFP gives you 1200 calories and you burn 500 in exercise that day, you can eat 1700 total calories that day. Make sense?

yes, make sure you log your excercise and your food log will automatically add in your extra calories.

if u eat half ur calories before lunch and u excercise ull burn thsoe calories then ur allowed to have more cuz it gives u those calories back.

if for breakfaste u eat a medium bowl of cereal and a banna that would be could or eat a egg and some toast, maybe some oatmeal as long as its not junk food ur good, and as long as u excercise u can eat what you want.:drinker:

Oh my, all this information is awesome! I love food especially comfort foods. This will really get me motivated to exercise. I was starting to feel bad about not meeting my goal. Thank you for all you feed back.

Also I am sorry I left this out but, how does using the BMR calculator work? I mean do the calories that your body burns when you are not doing anything count to? I mean do they get subtracted from the calories you have eaten as well?

I did not mean that I did not do anything  rather does the calories that your body burn when you are at the desk count to as a subtraction from the calories you have consumed for that day?

The calories that your body burns without doing anything is the base number that MFP starts with. For instance, at my current weight, my body burns 2500 calories every day just surviving. So in order to lose weight, I eat 1000 fewer calories per day, which puts me at a 7000 calorie deficit for the week, which results in a 2 pound loss per week. The deficit that MFP gives you will depend on how much you said you wanted to lose per week. Your base calories (before the deficit is calculated) also depend on how active you are in your daily life (sedentary, light activity, active, etc.) so it's important to choose the right activity level for you.
