VSG and a leak!

Hi Guys

I had my VSG on Octob 29 last year.. so around 3 months ago! Surgery went fine and everything seemed normal. After 4 or 5 days I started getting weird pains that kinda felt like acid re-flux but on a different level lol
One night it got really bad I couldn't breath or walk so we rushed to emergency and I ended up being in hospital for 2 months because of the stupid leak!

I'm sure I'm not the only one that's been through a traumatic experience after WLS. I defiantly don't regret it though, I've lost 42kg so far and counting!

If you have any stories please share! would love to hear them

Feel free to add me so we can motivate each other on our journeys

I haven't had the surgery yet. I'm 4 months into the 6 months of nutritionist visits. Two more months and they will submit to my insurance for approval!

My mother just told all of us kids that she's having this surgery.... In Mexico. I'm terrified for her, your complications heighten my anxiety for sure. I'm glad you're okay though.

Tell her to watch some episodes of "botched up" on youtube. Quite a few cases of people going to other countries for various kinds of surgeries, only to come back home with botched surgeries and serious infections.

My mother and sister, and sister's best friend all had WLS in Mexico with excellent care and no complications. I think if you do your research properly, there can be excellent outcomes.

OP, I'm glad to hear that you're now doing well after a traumatic start.
  • I had my surgery January 23rd (2weeks ago) so far so good sorry to hear you had problems
