Hello! I am a "middle aged" woman whose middle is constantly growing. I weigh more now than when I did when I was pregnant with twins! Want and need to lose a good 30-40 pounds. Activity is limited due to fibro ..looking into water activities in my area. Any advice or help you provide would be greatly appreciated!!!

Well the good news is, exercise is for fitness and health, but unnecessary for weight loss. I am not saying it has no purpose or benefit, but I AM saying that you do NOT need to exercise to lose weight successfully. You need to eat less than you burn (and you have a burn even if you're in a coma, it's your BMR.). So my advice is to put your numbers into MFP, eat the target calories it gives you, find success. It's not as hard as the diet industry would like us to believe, I promise0

Exactly what she said!0

Start by making small changes that are easily sustainable. I started with changing my breakfasts to something healthier and then over the course of a month I added healthier lunches and dinners before really starting to hold myself accountable. By that point it was fairly simple to stick to a healthier diet. Good luck!0

Thank you all for the immediate feedback! Eating breakfast is one of my biggest killers...or not eating it and then overeating at lunch. Yes, I know better, just not hungry in the morning. Just read something yesterday that finally clicked...DON'T wait to eat until you are hungry. Plan small, healthy meals to prevent the aforementioned issue!!!! So, prepped an overnight steel cut oats serving for this morning0

Sounds like you're off to a great start! It's great to have long-term goals in mind, but it can also be helpful to take it one day at a time. Each day, I have to decide to make healthy food choices for that day. If I focus on one day at a time, keeping my long-term goal in mind, it's a lot less overwhelming!0

Don't feel overwhelmed just take it slow. Eat a light breakfast then take it from there0

No need to feel overwhelmed. Why not just start with getting used to logging on MFP? Don't worry about changing anything you're currently doing. Once you start seeing what you eat on a regular basis, you will start to see where you may need to make adjustments. Take your time and make small changes - when you're ready.
And, as you start to familiarize yourself with MFP, you will find that MFP members are incredibly helpful and a wealth of knowledge!
Welcome to MFP!1 -
Thanks. So true, need to take baby steps.0
