Tea

I'm really into teas these days. I enjoy drinking a different one each night (and I do have about 8 different flavours of tea! So one for each night of the week!) Along with my tea I put on some relaxing instrumental music and some scented candles, and then I'm in utopia for a while.

I actually wanted to know if there are teas that actually have a calming, or energizing effect on the body ? Or is it just all in the mind?

Camomile is great for evening before bed. Lemon balm and Tumeric tea also.

For me the the simple act of preparing and then drinking a tea/tissane is calming. As for those recognized as calming: Camomile, Lemon Balm, Catmint. Personally, I find peppermint calming which is why I grow it and dry it for the winter. Personally, I find anise a calming flavour so whether it is anise hyssop or anise itself, I like to include in tea mixtures.

I think anise would certainly taste interesting. I'm going to keep an eye out for that :)

I love Jasmine green tea with a drop of cream in it, it's energizing so I drink it when I need to be awake.
I like vanilla hazelnut tea in the night, from Yogi brand I think.

I have a loose leaf lavender mint tea that is totally delicious and I think is calming. The tea store claimed it was good to relieve headaches...I don't know about that because I rarely get headaches.

Valerian tea is good before bed. I love green tea with orange blossom also.
