If you're okay with ordering online, check out amazon.com
I bought a Polar ft4 for about 65 bucks.0 -
The last thing you want is "cheap". A GOOD HRM is going to cost you about $100. Look on amazon, they have great deals and a lot of things to choose from. I have a Polar F6 and I paid about $91 after s&h and I love it. I've had it for a year and it's still going strong. You can set a target heart zone manually or just pick a level of "basic, low, moderate, high", set alarms for yourself, review your workouts for the week at the end of the week and of course see your calories burned, etc.0

Ditto - Polar FT4 is awesome. Does the basics - HR and Calorie counting.
Price is pretty affordable.0 -
I just got the pro form tx 300 from walmart for $48 (the one with the chest strap). I love it. It has a bunch of extra options and it's a watch that I wouldn't mind just wearing as a watch.0

Anything by Polar. Most popular are the Ft4 and FT7.
Remember that you get what you pay for when it comes to HRM's.. so if you buy a cheap one now, you'll most likely be spending more to buy the higher end one you should have bought in the first place. Case in point, I bought a cheap Timex Unisex Zone Trainer that was highly recommended by Consumer Reports. I returned it a day later because the calorie count was way off and then bought a Polar FT7 about a month later and couldn't be happier.0 -
Personally I'm not looking for cheap. Best bang for your buck...0

Go Polar or go home0

Yea but the girl underneath you did.. and best bang for your buck is Polar.0 -
I got a Polar with a Calorie Counting feature. I love it. Be sure to send the monitor into an authorized Polar Repair place when it's time to replace the battery. Especially true if you use it in the pool.0
