INCORRECT SALT & SUGAR CONTENT

I've been using this app for more than a year and love it, and although it has been the key to me losing 4.5st, the sugar and salt contents on virtually every single item I've scanned has been seriously incorrect, in fact, none existent even on apparently verified foods.
Why is this ? Are food companies trying to hide the fact that it's in everything ? I seem to be now constantly going over my daily recommended limit even though I eat fairly healthily. I will be trying to cut down again accordingly.
Keep up the good work though!

People input the information. People make mistakes or don't care.0

1) Even the "verified" entries are not necessarily correct since, as previously noted, the vast majority are user-created and may not may not be accurate for a variety of reasons. Take responsibility for your diary and at least do a reasonableness check before logging a new item.
2) Do you have a medical condition which requires you to limit sodium or sugar? If not, I would advise you not to stress too much. As you said, you've lost over 60lbs in the last year without those entries being accurate, so obviously it isn't impacting your weight loss. Why are you so worried about it now?0 -
Great point happy. Companies always seem to be changing package information and serving sizes.0

Thanks for your replies.
My point is I thought my diet was reasonably good, I seemed to be under all my goal levels. But one day I had some Gingerbread Men as a treat and when I went to put it in MFP I noticed that there was 0 in for the sugar on a verified listing, so I checked on their website and it stated 36g PER BISCUIT, and as they come in packs of 3 that's 72g of sugar unaccounted for!
Same with sodium, even this morning I've had to change 2 new items I'm eating. Granted I've lost a good amount of weight over the last 14 months ( 5kg / 10 pounds to go ) due to a combination of trying to stick to 2000 cals per day, long walks, quitting alcohol for a 4 month period and then seriously cutting down, swapping from milk to dark chocolate and stopping eating vast amounts of takeaway junk & processed foods including bacon & sausages. I became a bit sensitive to salt and that has returned where for days all I can taste is the damned stuff hence why I take note. Everything I now eat or drink gets put in and I add [Correct] next to it so I know I've checked it0 -
When I find an incorrect entry I edit the entry to the correct information. It is easy for anyone to do.0
