Is a full rest day necessary?

Hello everyone. I have done T25 for 6 days in a row (I skipped one rest day due to superbowl and knowing I was going to over eat). I don't want to rest today though, I actually want to work out! Do I need a full day off or can I do something small, like walk a few miles on a treatmill?

My "rest day" is pilates, waking, and yoga...so yes, I think walking is fine for a rest day.0

Walking, yoga, Pilates - anything low impact is just fine to do on a rest day, unless you are feeling too wore out to do it.0

A rest day is just recovery from more vigorous activity...it doesn't mean you actually have to sit around and do nothing.0

My rest days are going for a walk, stretching, and foam rolling. It is 100% worth it. Recovery has more impact on your fitness than the actual time spent working out (assuming you are working out regularly and properly).0

I'm doing T25 too. I usually do something simple like going for a walk, unless I work 12 hours because I walk a lot at work.0

I think you'll be fine to do whatever you want. T25 and walking are both low impact. Most people just recommend rest days for lifting (otherwise you don't really benefit from the work you are doing) or high impact exercises (like running), especially when you are new at running and are trying to avoid injury. I think if you are feeling good, do what you want.0 -
You're young... and listening to your body so I say go for it. You can rest another day.
Maybe you could push yourself a little harder on workout days? Then you might need/want the rest days.0 -

Well I don't agree with that. That program is a non stop assault on your calves, knees, abductors, and glutes. Especially the Alpha phase. Shaun T is like an energizer bunny with all that hopping and jumping around. T25 is also setup so people can either do a double Friday and have Sat and Sun as recovery days, or do the second Friday workout on Sat and use Sun as recovery. There is also a T25 stretch video that is to be used on the recovery days.
As for me I take a rest day whenever my body calls for it. But even when I do it's active rest, very light cardio with some stretching, or yoga/pilates (even though I loathe both) or a casual walk.

for me personally, a rest day I pretty much do nothing. I do this not just for my body but my mind. Sometimes I need a day of zero activity !0

Sorry not saying T25 isn't high intensity. Just that the reason a beginner doesn't go running 7 days a week is because the potential for repetitive stress injury. And yet there are plenty of people running 7 days a week, so obviously you can build up to it. Seems like T25 changes the moves often enough that while it is difficult I don't think it's prone to the same overuse injuries of running. However, I'm sure someone could still get injured. Hope that clears things up.0 -
I'm not familiar with T25, I assume it's a cardio program with lighter lifting.
Rest days are truly subjective to the individual and amount of current conditioning to the activity. I assume you are fairly new since you are asking so probably a light alternative or rest day will be good for you.
