i have lost a lot of weight in maybe a year and a half? i went from over 233 lbs to now being in 130 lbs. i am 5'5" 26 years woman, i still would like to lose 5-10 more lbs, because i still have a stomach and a little fat overall. i have a medium frame, so you can tell im still a little bit overweight. i decided to give my body a break, since i stopped losing for 2 months. so now im on maintenance, and just focusing on exercising. im eating around 1800-2100 or so calories (i was eating 1600 when i was trying to lose which worked for awhile till i plateaued there) and my weight is still stable. i exercise 6 days a week for an hours doing cardio/weights. tomorrow i go off maintenance how low should my calories be? i dont want to do 1200 i stopped losing for a month last time i did that.

The last 10lbs are a *****! I don't know what to recommend. You could try eating around 1450 calories a day, with exercise. Good luck. I've been stuck on the last 10lbs for over a year and I use to weigh 230 as well. LOL.
  • oh man! you give me so much hope lol =)

Its good that you took a break. Now that you are coming off your break, try completely changing up your exercise routine. Your body gets used to doing the same thing and then it isn't challenged. Try pushing heavier weights, try a different type of cardio that your aren't used to. Keep your body guessing so to speak. When I first started losing, I was eating 1 lean protein and 1 complex carb every 2-3 hours. I lost 8 lbs that first week.

    Start with:
Wake up: 1/2 cup oatmeal with 1 cup of berries (blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries, or mixed)
2-3 hours later: 1 egg and 3 egg whites with 2 pieces of turkey bacon
2-3 hours later: 1 cup of fruit or low fat yogurt
2-3 hours later: fist sized piece of chicken, any type of fish (including tuna (1 can)), with a veggie
2-3 hours later: 1 can of tuna with mustard, pickle juice or lime juice
2-3 hours later: a fist sized piece of chicken and a veggie
2-3 hours later: a piece of fruit or a handful of almonds, cashews or peanuts

*Drink half your body weight in ounces (130 lbs = 65 ounces) everyday. More if sweating a lot or what not.

Acceptable condiments: mustard, spices, low carb ketchup (once in a while), Vinegar, lime juice and soy sauce (once in a while).

I did this eating plan for a solid week and lost 8 lbs. I hope this helps. Oh and by the way, tuna and mustard is really good especially with fresh broccoli.

    Good Luck
  • since i joined this site my goal has been to lose 10 - 15 lbs... and 8 months into it and i hadn't lost anything!!! it was really frustrating. but i tried the 17 day diet and that finally did get the scale moving, so you might want to look into that. it's a pretty good diet, it's not as gimmicky as it sounds. you basically just cut sugar out of your diet and limit your carbs at first, and eat lots of veggies. i lost 7 lbs on that diet, and i've been off of it for almost a month now and i've only gained 2 lbs back (which i'll assume is water weight hehe) so most of the weight has stayed off. i've been meaning to go back on it though and lose the last 5-8 lbs. you can take away a lot of really good tips from this diet though for the long term. like starting your day with lemon water, drinking tea with every meal, making sure you get enough probiotics in your diet, limiting sugar and processed food. here's a link to the book if you're interested:

I'm also down to the last 10(5'8 started at 180 now at 160).

I bumped it down to half a pound a few weeks ago and never really ate all the calories..now I'm trying to eat all the calories and all I've done is gain 2 pounds.. so obnoxious. I guess the best advice would just be to keep with it, keep experimenting and eventually the weight will come off.

whats your diet like? cause really when you get down to the last 10 lbs your diet will be the main factor affecting your weight. if you eat a completely clean diet the weight will come off much easier.
