Protein shakes and vitamins???

I'm a 24 year old female, CW 235lbs, I lost 50 lbs 2 years ago then hit a bump in road but I'm back on track. I never really took any vitamins, supplements or anything like that before but I think it's time to add some this time. I go to the gym 3-5 days a week; 45 min in the elliptical machine and 20 min varied weights. I have been feeling very tired and with little mood to go workout but I keep pushing myself to go workout. I'd really love to find some vitamins/supplements that can help give me more energy but I have no clue what to take.

Can anyone help???
Please & Thank You!

Ps. I've been staying under 2,100 calories a day and I try not to eat to much sugars, carbs and stuff like that

I've heard that vitamin b12 can help with low energy, but I have no experience with it.

As for protein powder....they can be useful if you have trouble meeting your protein goals for the day via food. But they are not necessary. I personally like the Body Logix brand in chocolate and vanilla bean. 120 calories per scoop....24g protein. I like the taste mixed with water, which I can't say for many, many other brands.

It sounds like you just need to eat more carbs.

Maybe your first step should be a trip to the doctor for blood work... determine if you are actually deficient in anything.

    Just a thought.

Do 45 mins weights, followed by 20 mins elipticle instead.

    I take a mulivitamin.
I know I don't eat as well as I should.
Try it, see how you feel.
I can notice a difference when I don't take it.
I can also notice a difference in different brands.

I would try a multi before just taking a b12.
A lot of vitamins/minerals work better together than separately.

Fat burners are a lie. So are pills to increase your metabolism.
I take a multi to make sure I get some calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, iron, b vitamins since I don't eat well every day.
Walmart sells protein powders and protein bars.

Vitamin supplements (especially a multivitamin) are a waste of money. You excrete most of it, and honestly, there are several where the pill is still intact when it comes out. Also, unless you know you have a deficiency, you really shouldn't be taking them. Vitamin toxicity is completely possible (though rare), especially for the fat soluble ones. None of the supplements out there are FDA approved and a lot don't contain the amount or any of what they claim to, especially herbal supplements. On top of that, there have been many instances where manufacturers have added some not so safe things, like heavy metals. Outside of all of that, a lot of foods are refined, where they strip away parts of the plants that are important to our diet, ex: most wheat bread is enriched. Meaning it was stripped of certain components, which causes it to lose most of the vitamins and other micronutrients, then some of the vitamins are added back in.. but not everything.
You're better off working on incorporating nutritious foods into your diet. Somewhere along the way I think we forgot that the main purpose of food is provide the body with the energy and nutrients it needs. Yes it can provide comfort and joy, but really, we all know that most of the stuff in the center aisles of the grocery store don't do much for the nutrition part. If nothing else works, I look at it as why buy garbage food and eat that so then I feel like I have to take a supplement because I know I'm not giving my body what it needs?

I would say a Balanced diet is best but I take Vitamin D, B and I can see a difference in my skin when I don't take it. I use Coffee for a boost of energy getting rid of the Pre workout drinks as soon as I run out. I have been taking Creatine for 30 years..
