nnot enough calories

This last week I've had a really hard time consuming more then 300-400 calories a day mostly including "V8 Energy" I really don't want my body to store food as fat, as I've been very active as well the last ccouple of days.. any supplements or something I can take that'll help not bbring my body into starvation mode??

You are not at risk of "starvation mode" where the body somehow creates matter out of nothing to store fat without the necessary surplus. You are at risk of actual starvation where the body starts looking inward and stripping needed nutrients from bone, organs, etc due to lack of sufficient intake which can lead to permanent, irreversible damage.

    ^ This.

If you literally cannot consume more than 400 calories, then you need to consult a professional therapist who specializes in eating disorders.

Why are you having trouble eating more than 300-400 calories? Are you ill?

Agree with other two responses. If you are having a physical or psychological response to food, you need to get medical help asap.

  • I jjust really don't have a appetite.. I have ssome medical issues due to a previous wreck that I've been dealing with since october. Drs know.. I don't really know what to do.

Are you trying to gain weight?
Maybe have some calorie dense foods like peanut butter and cheese? Use butter in your food. Enjoy some ice cream.

I think it's time to schedule a follow-up appointment and let your doctor know that you can't eat more than 300-400 calories a day. Ask him or her for suggestions to help protect your health.

I second checking in with the doctors. And I would ask for a referral to a dietitian who can help you. There's no pill or supplement that will protect your body from the serious side effects of eating this little. You need to find a way to get more calories.

Appetite isn't a static thing -- it changes depending on a lot of variables, including how much you eat. If you eat at a very low calorie total for too long (say, since October), a lot of people find that they stop feeling hungry. On the other hand, if you start eating at a normal intake, after a week or two, your appetite will catch up and you'll start feeling normal hunger cues. What you're doing is extremely unhealthy and, if done for long enough, will cause a lot of serious issues. Either make yourself eat a normal amount (whether or not you "feel" like it), or go see a doctor now.
  • Thank you guys so much! I have a appointment tuesday, which is a follow up to 2 procedures I had on Monday. . So hopefully we'll get answers.

I'm not trying to gain weight no, just be at a normal calorie intake..
Because I don't want my body to store fat.

This is a myth, your body will not "store fat" and prevent you from losing weight if you're eating so little. It will, over time, cause plenty of health issues, but weight gain is not one of them. There were no fat concentration camp victims, know what I mean? You're going to continue to lose weight if you eat a very low calorie diet, but it will slow as your body shuts down essential functions to conserve energy. It can't produce fat out of nowhere or no one would starve to death.

Are you sure you're only eating 300-400 calories per day? Just to put that in perspective, that's a small latte and a glass of juice, or a piece of toast with peanut butter, or like 4 oreos, for an entire day. Not "and", either, just one of those options. It's very, very little food and if that's honestly what you're eating for an extended period of time you will be dropping weight extremely quickly, nutrient deficient, and probably need to be in the hospital on a feeding tube.

Good. Definitely bring up the food issue. In fact, consider calling today and mentioning it and asking if they have recommendations in advance of the appointment.
  • Yeah, I'll give them a call and talk to one of the nurses. I don't have a eating disorder, I just get hella nauseous! I'm 5"9 and 20.
I haven't been eating like this for more then like 2 weeks, it's Just been since the procedures.

Most of the few calories I've been consuming are from drinks, and a small salad or piece of chicken.

And when I said storing fat, I guess I meant when my eating habits go back to normal, I don't want my body to save that.

Do talk to the nurse and see if they have ideas. Until then, try calorie dense foods in whatever form you can stomach. If you can drink calories, consider making a big milkshake or smoothie. You can add things like protein powder, Greek yogurt, Boost or Ensure, peanut butter, chocolate, ice cream, fruit juice, etc to try and get some calories and nutrients down.

That won't happen; you might see a little bit of water retention when you go back to eating normally, but that will resolve quickly and you won't affect how your body stores fat. If you're feeling nauseous following some kind of surgical procedure, that probably isn't abnormal (although I would call and ask just to be sure). In that case, eat whatever you can that doesn't make you feel sick. Try bland foods (rice, crackers, bananas, applesauce, vanilla ice cream, whatever). If you're trying to heal following some kind of procedure, your body needs calories to do that.

Grab some ganj, fry up a nice 12oz steak and some sweet potatoes. You'll break 1200 calories. If you can't do it, buy a blender and start making shakes. Milk, protein powder, fishoil, fruit, peanut butter, and oatmeal. You'll break 1000 calories with one shake. Supplements are the most misused items in fitness. They are quite literally called "supplements" meaning their purpose is to "supplement" an already healthy nutritious diet. Not to be the main factor in it. Talk to someone about your eating disorder. Before long you'll start to fall apart. Picture an engine that's never seen maintenance, driven to the ground every single day. It works for awhile. Before long though, it dies.
