Hi :-)
What does everyone have for low carb snacks when you're on the go and not at home and want to eat something quick. Really miss the bag of crisps or small bar of chocolate :-(

I thought the main advantage of low carb was that it eliminates cravings and the need for snacking?

    @nortonme

this is my favorite crustless quiche:

3 c shredded zucchini (squeeze dry between towels)
1/2 c chopped onion (saute until soft in a small amt of butter or oil)
    1/2 c shredded cheddar
1/2 c grated romano cheese (or parm)
    4 eggs, slightly beaten
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp pepper
    1 tsp garlic powder
    1 tbsp oil

Mix zucchini, oil, eggs, onion, romano cheese, cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a large bowl, until it looks like thick batter. Mix by hand. Do not beat.
Pour into a greased muffin tin or pie plate.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes until set & golden.

Alternately, use the basic egg, cheeses, and seasonings and add vegetables & crumbled/diced meats of your choice.

The muffin tin is perfect for single servings that can be frozen individually & popped into the microwave for a quick reheat. These are excellent @ room temp as well.

I just made one last week in my brownie pan for the weekend:

I have a bunch of low carb favorites!
    1. Sugar free jello
    2. Cheese strings
    3. Beef jerky (be careful about the sugar content on some)
    4. Moon cheese
    5. Almonds, any flavor
    6. 90% dark chocolate
    7. Hard boiled eggs
    8. Keto breakfast muffins (basically small crustless quiches)
    9. Celery with dip (guacamole, ranch, almond butter)
    10. Pepperoni sticks or slices
    11. Avocados - yes I take it as a snack, I slice it in 1/2 when I want to eat it. Scoop it right out of the peel ;)

I recommend not using muffin tins, you'll be scraping off eggs out of it for forever. Been there done that. Use silicone muffin cups, I bought some off Amazon for about $6.

As far as a recipe I just use whatever I have in my fridge. Last time I used 5 eggs, 4 or 5 strips of bacon, 2 or 3 sausages and 1/2 a red and green pepper. Make sure to cook the meat before adding them to the mix. Add salt, pepper, oregano, whatever spices you like. Mixed it all up and poured them in muffin cups. Meatlovers!

Doesn't seem so bad now, didn't think of jelly either. Life can continue without missing the 'naughty treats' :D

I keep a bunch of cheese sticks in the fridge for a quick grab and go snack. I really like mozzarella string cheese.

For sweet craving, I squirt a little Redi-Whip onto a spoon. That usually gets the job done.

If you have room in your carbs, Dannon Oikos makes a greek yogurt called Triple 0. It's only 9g net carbs per cup and 15g protein. Look for the black cups.

Pork rinds are by far the easiest sub for chips, but I haven't found a way to make them palatable other than dipping them in something that isn't low carb.
Also you can still have chocolate if you get extra dark, i'd aim for 80%+.

Hi 22gilligan, what is redi-whip? I'm from England so not sure we have that here :-)
My problem is keeping the carbs down, they seem to mount up so quickly lol.

sounds like squirty cream, most of which have sugar added. Caveat Emptor.

Here you go. Says less than 1 g of sugar.

I don't think I've ever had it (we always whip the cream at home), but it doesn't appear to have sugar added.

The way to stop sweet cravings is don't feed the Sugar Dragon. Cut the artificial sweetens and sugar. I plan my meals so they last for 5 hours and I don't snack. If you eat real food that satisfies, it works.

I like to cut a plain rice cake in half and add 1 T of peanut butter like a sandwich. Pop it into a baggie and go. With a bottle of water it's quite filling and only 120 calories.

All sounds great, thank you :-)

Not so sure black coffee will do the trick though lol ;-)
