If you know your maitanance then add slightly amount of calories to it n get your protein from beans and other sources I would say it's a bit harder to get protein in a veg diet but with research it's duable.0

Because there are proteins in plants. Humans are able to digest plants in a way that makes some of those proteins available to us. We can also get protein from milk products and eggs. Newborns subsist on milk and double in size by the time meat is introduced in their diet. Human breast milk, by the way, has only 1/3 of the protein found in cows milk.
Its worth mentioning that different animals have different digestive enzymes and are able to extract proteins from plants that just "pass through" us. Think about how its possible for horses and rhinos to develop and maintain enormous muscle mass eating plants.0 -

So the general point about adding lean mass is that you couple resistance training with a mild calorie excess to gain weight. Inevitably that weight gain will include both lean mass and fat, so you'll need to cycle through periods of cutting again to reduce the fat percentage again.
As far as diet is concerned, there is plenty of protein in many things, although I'd draw a distinction between vegetarian and vegan. Pulses, leafy greens, greek yoghurt, paneer, mushroom, eggs, milk etc. There are lots of sources.0
