I went out to breakfast with my family for Father's Day. There weren't many options at the restaurant, so I picked what I thought was a good option, a shrimp and crab omelet. The surprise was that it came with a side of "home fries" that were deep fried.
I caved and ate the whole thing. When I got home and logged it, I had less than 100 calories for the rest of the day. I've been resisting so far but it's 8 hours later and I'm STARVING.
I'm not a salad eater. Lettuce gives me indigestion. I'll usually pick protein when I have an option. Any suggestions?

Pick at some protein then. When I'm hungry at night, I'll sometimes snack on slices of ham or turkey, or cottage cheese, or some 'fake crab', whatever I have in the fridge. Not a lot of calories and it has more staying power than fruit or carbs. Then just get back on track tomorrow.0

get in some exercise so you can eat back the calories! Works for me!0

I find myself in that situation quite often at night and even though it doesn't seem too appetizing, I usually try to down a bottle of water and wait about 15-20 minutes. If I am still hungry I snack a little but usually the water fills me up enough that I can go to bed satisfied0

Eat something. A chicken breast & some veggies or fish & some veggies. One day of being over won't completely derail your journey. Eat something tonight & start fresh tomorrow.0

A protein shake would fill you up and round up your calories, but a piece of fruit, some ff yogurt or cottage cheese with sliced strawberries, a bowl of sugar-free jello, a cup of steamed or raw vegetables would all be ok to eat.0

Get some healthy snacks in. Fiber bars, popcorn, rice cakes, 100 calorie pk snacks, .....helps me and i'm not starving. Still hungry but not starving for food.0

I ate some chicken. One hundred twenty calories so it should take the edge off, but still incredibly hungry0

So, a couple of things jump out at me. First, 8 hours is a long time to go without any food, so I would suggest some protein in the way of lean meat, and maybe some lower calorie foods - fruit, veggies, etc. Then you can drink lots of water to help with the full feeling. However, the most impotant thing is, today was a special occasion and you over indulged at breakfast and that's OK. Forgive yourself and move on. Get some extra exercise in today, and tomorrow, get back on the horse and resolve to do a better job. It's so hard to find any breakfast food that is low in calories, (thankfully I'm not a big fan of breakfast foods) Maybe next time when there is a special occasion for breakfast, you can do some planning ahead of time and perhaps make better choices, such as fruit, oatmeal, maybe whole wheat pancake or french toast with light syrup.0
