Overeating on days when I weigh less than my "target weight"?

Hi! So I have a specific target weight that I like to be at, and on days when I'm a little lower I sorta compulsively overeat and end up feeling overfull and not really good about myself. I don't worry about losing the weight again because I can obviously just eat normally over the next few days and lose it, but I still feel badly and suspect that this habit can;t be healthy somehow. If there is anyone else who has this or a similar problem, could you please tell ke how you manage it? Than you!

I wish I hadn't just read your post... I do this too sometimes but have been considering it to be a sort of fun day to not worry about having an extra treat. Now I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't :( I don't way overeat to the point of being sick and I still log it. I'm going to follow this to see what others have to say on the topic.

I used to do that! But....I found that the overeating and then under eating simply DO NOT balance out. You must "make over your mind" to eat healthy AND consistently and also incorporate exercise that you can stick to. Otherwise chances are you will be striving for that "weight goal" for a long time with no lasting results. My goal is to "stay healthy and fit for life" and the weight loss will come. No focus on weight loss/weight goals, just on being healthy. So far it's working...I've lost 9.5 pounds in 6 weeks....all from healthy eating, lots of water and mild exercise daily

Instead of a target weight, try to think of where you're at as a "target zone." A couple pounds above and a couple pounds below your chosen weight are in the range and don't require you to change anything. This accounts for natural weight fluctuations that occur not only during the day but from day to day as well.

So, do you think that maybe I should stop weighing myself for a little bit and see what happens? Like a week or so?

you know weight fluctuates, right? just because the scale is down doesn't mean its going to stay that way. just like if its up it doesn't mean it stays that way. if you are at maintenance, then eat at maintenance. weight fluctuates.

Of course. I think I just have a weird relationship with the scale because I was anorexic for a few years. I'm still learning how to be balanced about my eating habits.

I should add that I've never needed to lose weight, I've only been underweight.

Oh yeah I totally do that. Probably because I weigh myself daily. I don't compulsively overeat but if I weigh myself in the morning and I'm down a pound or two, I'm definitely not afraid to go over my calories that day.

i guess when I said "compulsively" I was exaggerating, but yeah. I dunno. I'm just afraid it's not healthy or something.

Please forgive me for oversharing here, but I used to have an eating disorder so I'm still becoming used to not overeating or undereating.

I didn't weigh myself but for one day this week and I did really well! Ate pretty healthily, and I didn't hate myself when I had some cookies. I maintained my weight, and I don't crave any kinds of foods. I feel REALLY guilty, though, because my mom made fudge and we had a little party at work- leading me to definitely overeat, definitely more than just a couple hundred calories. It was far from being a binge, though, so it wasn't that bad. I know I'll go back to eating normally next week, but I always worry so much about what effects eating too many processed carbohydrates will have on my health in the longrun, even from just these occasional episodes of overeating. I was really good about it up until now, though! I seriously didn't worry about food at all, and that's huge for me. i felt good physically and emotionally. But now I don't. I mean, I'm not super over full or anything, but I can tell that my blood sugar is going crazy, haha, and I just feel badly emotionally for having eaten like I did.
