Did anyone else feel sick when they first started drinking protein shakes ?

What do you mean by feel sick? Nauseated, upset stomach?
And at what time of day are drinking these and are you on an empty stomach, straight from exercise, straight out of bed? What brand and is it powder or ready to drink shake? Is it loaded with carbs or ateleast what is the protein amount yo are drinking at one time?
Is it whey or what?

You'd be amazed how many people don't know that.
The solution for that is to try and buy whey isolate instead of concentrate and see if that works. Or switch to other protein base like soy.
But then again OP didn't even tell us what protein shakes she is drinking0 -

I guess you are right but with lactose creeping into so many products it would puzzle me that she hasn't already been diagnosed or become aware of it before having a shake.
Agreed on that, I quite enjoyed almond milk shake before I stopped drinking them, so that could be another option to try?
That is true, it could be powder or pre-mixed for all we know. I always advise against the pre-mixed ones, bad experiences personally and so have friends of mine.0 -
Well until she responds, it is sort of pointless to speculate on what it is or what it is not she drinking..

I can't have body by VI that upsets my stomach so maybe there's an ingredient that disagrees with me as my ibs d is bad at times.
Made it with water felt nauseated made it with almond milk felt the same both for 2 hours
Last night so not on an empty stomach
This morning on an empty stomach
I don't have much of an appetite in the mornings and trying to get my carbs down so this is low carbs 24g protein it's a well know recommended brand

It might just be their formula. I've had some brands in the past that my stomach just doesn't like for some odd reason or another. Just find a different brand and try that one. If the problem persists try a different type of protein. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon0

I've used The Protein Works Naked 80 and Naked 90 whey formulas and really like them. They are sweetened with stevia instead of sucralose (I just dislike the taste of sucralose).
I do mix with skimmed milk rather than water as I don't like the texture when too watery.
They may well take your formula back or swap for another formulation as their customer service is pretty good.
PS - don't go for their whey and oat crisp flapjack bars unless you enjoy farting on a truly epic scale!0 -

If you email bodybuilding.com or go to GNC, they often have product samples they'll give you. (Usually it's pre-workout rather than protein powder, but you never know.)0

it helps me because it's a better calorie/protein ratio, and cheaper than expensive meats. i'm not duped, i just like what it offers me.0 -

I've a family to feed so it's cheaper for me to have a protein shake in the morning I don't like eating first thing always been the same I couldn't eat eggs and meat etc 8am

I use the Ideal Shakes. Love them! I did find the first week or two I had some stomach issues. This one has fiber, maybe that was it? Maybe start by using 1/2 the amount and work your way up to a full serving?0

I can't use one type of protein powder. All the others I'm fine. Everyone digests them differently. Like someone said earlier, try different ones.0

The first time I drank one, I thought my stomach was going to die. It was the most uncomfortable feeling ever. I was bloated and felt like I had to poop but I couldn't. And I was like, oh great, this isn't going to work.
and then I got my period. so that was the reason. Since then, the protein shakes have been fine.0 -
